It amazes me that people that have only competed in a few pageants think they can pull off being a pageant director. Why do you people even try? It only lasts 2 pageants at the very least. We need pageants that have stability like Gingerbread, CoverMiss, Cinderella, Stars Over Usa,and Majestic Creations.
We see what happens when small time pageant moms try to put on a pageant..it begins a name-game, and their friends win, or their fellow "pageant sisters" win. Its amazing when a GG director puts on a pageant, 90% of the contestants are GG's, and the girls that go to other coaches dont have a chance, even thought they are better.
Leave the pageant directing to the veterans.

Amen! And again, Amen! Of course you'll get bashed, but everyone knows it's the truth! (NT) -- Hurt them in the pocketbook. All of those people she tried to please can't compete next year---they are Royalty. No one else will go. This was a joke with a capital J. LOL!, 16:00:43 01/26/04 Mon
Every single one of these pageant directors started somewhere too. And I am sure they made their share of mistakes along the way. If you are talking about Summer's pageant, please be nice. She was very well-organized and had bad experience with a judge but has learned from that. He wrote on our score sheets that RaeLee's smile was too big and her hair was too perfect and she had her pageant walk down "too good". If that is his reasoning for his scores then he needs to go away and stay away from pageants! That is what she has worked so hard on. Another comment was that she lost too many beads from her ww. Ms. Summer, I know you didn't forsee his judging style and I know you did a good job on your pageant. We had a fun day. Congratulations on your first pageant and we will return to further support your system. (NT) -- Sam, 16:04:27 01/26/04 Mon

If you are talking about the secret pal pageant, I am sure that Julie will be the first to tell you that she knows hardly anything about putting on a pageant. She has been consulting with several that do know alot about putting on a pageant, many many others that have been in pageantry for years and years, and she has been asking for YOUR opinions the last few days. This is only for the secret pal program and I know for sure she expects nothing out of it but FUN! (NT) -- So don't even go there!, 16:05:13 01/26/04 Mon
Thank you for the support. Your right I know NOTHING about directing a pageant. I am consulting with several of the "veterans" and getting lots of support. If you have any questions, or suggestions I am willing to take them at usasecretpals@yahoo.com (NT) -- Julie, 16:13:04 01/26/04 Mon
You know what??? I knew this subject would arise.....you make it VERY clear who you are referring to and you need to grow up! Just because your little suzy q didn't win, doesn't mean you need to fish for excuses in WHY she didn't win. I bet you knew she was a GG director when you registered and didn't have a problem then, but after it's all over you gripe about it being a GG thing! Get a life!!!! (NT) -- Friend of a GG director!, 16:08:44 01/26/04 Mon
PGG gave away more stuff than some "season directors" who take the bucks, and give you a plaque, no matter where you place. Hats off to you Summer, we thought you did great. As far as GG's winning, they were the ones that came to compete, thats not their fault. If you did not come, dont complain. (NT) -- Pageant MOM, 16:21:54 01/26/04 Mon
I think many directors quit because as hard as they try people just are never happy. There becomes a fear of legal suits, mad mothers, mad fathers, and more. (NT) -- a little to much to handle, 16:37:50 01/26/04 Mon
I think the persons above need to think about what they are saying. I take offense to it because Julian did great, one of the best times i've ever seen her and you are making a blanket statement that the judge messed up the pageant. To me this is saying that Julian didn't deserve her win. She did. It was a tough pageant with a lot of talented kids there. I do agree that scoring the majority low and then scoring a few high ones gives advantage. But regardless, when you make statements like the above you are putting down the ones who came home with the titles. I also believe that Summer did a great job! She gave the cash and more than what she promised. Julian won $500 cash, a 3 cd stereo and several nice gifts for optionals. She had less turn out than what she expected and (cont) (NT) -- melissa, 16:54:41 01/26/04 Mon
what she needed to award all awards and did it anyway. As for her being a GG and all the GG's winning, it is a dumb statement. Of course GG's are going to go support the pageant. If I ever felt like it wouldn't be a fair pageant, I wouldn't support it no matter who it is. If you pay to enter a pageant, you take a chance that one of the judges or all 3 score weird. You are paying for their opinions. It is a gamble. As far as Summer knew, she was getting good judges. (NT) -- melissa, 16:56:04 01/26/04 Mon
Great post Melissa. I wish everyone would think about how their comments may affect others when the pageant does not go how they thought it should. (NT) -- jmho, 17:20:57 01/26/04 Mon
KAITLYNNE'S SECRET PAL LIVES IN TEXAS AND AS MUCH AS WE WOULD LOVE TO GO TO TEXAS FOR THE SECRET PAL PAGEANT, IT IS IMPOSSIBLE AS WE LIVE IN VIRGINIA. HOWEVER, JULIE IS A GREAT PERSON AND I KNOW THAT SHE WILL DO A GREAT JOB ON THIS PAGEANT. EVERYONE IN THE PAGEANT WORLD (AS WITH ANYTHING) HAD TO START SOMEWHERE. I AM SURE THIS IS GOING TO BE AN AWESOME PAGEANT FOR THE SECRET PALS TO MEET EACH OTHER. GOOOOOO JULIE! (NT) -- Miss Nancy in Virginia, 17:27:32 01/26/04 Mon

Who was the idiot judge at Platinum Girls & Guys ? I heard he lowballed several kids because he had his favorites picked . I hope I never run into this fool . Lots of talk about him and I hope I never see him at a pageant . I am so glad I did not go and have to deal with his stupidity . I can't believe he actually called someone's kid ugly ! Sounds like he needs a reality check! -- my opinion, 13:47:53 01/26/04 Mon

You were not even there, And you post this stuff????? Hear say is all that it is!! You have no right to come on here and say this stuff, WHEN YOU DID NOT EVEN GO! That is what starts all the Bashing to begin with!! (NT) -- If you did not go, then you should not have an opinion!! Especailly calling someone an Idiot, from something you ''HEARD''., 14:15:47 01/26/04 Mon
Was he Tim Arrington or a black man ? Have seen both judge. (NT) -- very curious who were the judges, 14:31:34 01/26/04 Mon
He signed his sheets, Eric. I don't know who he was but he put on our sheet that we might try colored socks to match our dress next time. My child placed well, but if he was as bad of a judge on some of the other score sheets as he was on mine, then I think this could explain why some of the kids did not win what they should have gotten. Some won things that they weren't as strong in as others and others won things that should've gone to someone else. Not saying kids our kids did not deserve their wins, just saying it was all screwed up. I think he messed the whole pageant up. (NT) -- just my opinion - take it for what you will, 14:43:57 01/26/04 Mon
Colored socks??? with a Beauty dress??? (NT) -- ??, 14:45:35 01/26/04 Mon
PLEASE Colored socks to match a beauty dress !!! Is this for real ??? (NT) -- ???, 15:31:14 01/26/04 Mon
I heard from several people that the comments on their score sheets were ludicrous! Also, heard that the master score sheet had mistakes. (NT) -- This is aside from the fact that some were allowed to win their age division categories (SPW, CW, etc.) and Overall, but some were not!, 15:45:46 01/26/04 Mon
I have to agree. I think the pageant as a whole went well everyone did a wonderful job and for the most part the winners were right on. However there were a few things that were questionable, we had on score sheet not to smile as much, tone it down. All judges look for different things. (NT) -- Summer we thought you did a wonderful job with the pageant as a whole., 15:51:58 01/26/04 Mon
My score sheet in sportswear and western from the man said not to have her spin so fast???and one in beauty that said she should not have painted nails??It was a french manicure that we wear at EVERY national.SCREWED byt his ol fart!! (NT) -- MAD, 15:58:46 01/26/04 Mon
Hasn't anyone asked Summer where this judge was from and who got him for her? He sounds familiar. (NT) -- Who were the other judges and where from?, 16:15:59 01/26/04 Mon
You can blame the judge, but the director claimed she had 4 out of state judges who didn't know anyone. (NT) -- The director screwed this one up!, 16:16:05 01/26/04 Mon
I have to agree I personally did not think the judges were qualified! I felt like some winners were way off. Did anyone get good photogenic scores? ours were horrible lol. Did the judges score low? Although we won we had the lowest scores ever. (NT) -- pm, 17:05:46 01/26/04 Mon

[> Subject: Melissa, don't take everything so personally. Just because the judge made some bad calls on some children, doesn't mean your child didn't deserve her win. It just means that some kids didn't get judged correctly or fairly. Some bad comments were made by the male judge, who was a modeling judge, not a pageant judge. That's evident from the comment about colored socks...this is a typical modeling judge call. He shouldn't be involved in pageant judging; he isn't qualified. Take RaeLee, for instance. What kind of ludicrous remark such as being too perfect--he couldn't make any real bad comments because they just weren't there...she was 'on' that day. Then the comment he made about the little girl who was told she was ugly, or the one who was told she should get out of pageants? These are the REAL children and parents who were hurt. I say the male judge who made these comments should be blackballed from pageants.
