Some notes about thesis binding services:

It costs approximately $7-8 for a hardbound copy if it takes a week to bind. The price increases geometrically with the shortening of the time needed. The most expensive binding cost I've heard so far was $80 per copy: 2hr express binding. Color printing is also available at Ultra supplies: $1 per page.

I would recommend Queensway Ultra Supplies rather than the one at SRC: something-brothers. Feedback about the poor quality of service (pages jutting out, missing diagrams, etc...) provided by the brothers shows that the former has higher quality service. For those who do not feel like going down to Queensway, you could approach the Ultra Supplies personnel in the library photocopy room. An additional $1 will be charged for their help in transporting your thesis to and fro from their HQ.

Before sending it for binding, check the lay out of your thesis properly. Make sure it is within the standard proposed by the department. Better still, do it now. Panic that sets in at the last moment usually causes one to forget about such minute details. Couple of my classmates did succumb to this shit.

Lastly, do collect your thesis earlier, maybe one or two days before the dateline, so that you could check if the photocopying and the binding has been done properly. There will still be time to rectify any faults then.

Best wishes

Chee Han.
