Subject: McKEE, TAGGERT, JOHNSTON, CATHERWOOD

Looking for the families of:

Joseph A. McKee, married Eliza Taggert/Taggart. He was born somewhere in Ireland in 1860, and she was born somewhere in Ireland in 1861. His mother's name was Jane. He had a brother William who was born in 1858, sisters named, Theresa, Alice, Catherine, and Ann. The last two were born in NYC.

In the 1880 census, Jane was listed as 47 yrs old, and a widow. Joseph was 19, single and working as a switchman for the Long Island Rail Road. His brother, William, was 22, and a conductor for a railroad.

Joseph's wife, Eliza, came over in 1882, yet by the 1900 census it said they had been married 19 yrs. That part is confusing me, as Joseph came over in 1880, and was listed as single in that census.

Also looking for Harold Johnston, married Mary Ellen Catherwood. He may have been from a "little Isle off Ireland, and may have had some Scots in him" according to my dad's sister. Mary Ellen supposedly came from Ireland also. Either Harold or Mary Ellen may have had a sister named Catherine, and one named Rosemary, but I'm not entirely sure about that. He drove a hanson (hansom?) cab for a living, and they were Roman Catholic also. They settled in Brooklyn, whereas the McKee's settled in Queens.

Anyone with any information on these families, please, contact me at ouizee47@hotmail.com

Thanks

ouizee
