Subject: Arthur McCloskey

My ggrandfather, Arthur McCloskey, born about 1826 in Derry County, came to USA in 1843. Family stories say the voyage took 10 weeks. In 1850 census he was staying with James and Sarah Mullen and their 4 daughters in Philadelphia. After that he went to Wilmington,DE where he operated a grocery store. He married Ellen Ash, perhaps of Killylea, Armagh, daughter of William and Phoebe Ash, all natives of NI. They had 9 children (I have their names and their godparents.) Arthur was RC and Ellen was CH. of Ireland. I am searching for the exact birthplace and the parents of Arthur. On his naturalization papers he appeared to use a "u" in place of the "o", then sometimes the "e" was missing, then his will shows McCloskey.
