Henry BURKE was born in Drumherriff, County Leitrim, Ireland, ca 1795. He went to Marlborough Twp, Carleton County, Ontario, Canada in early 1800, perhaps as a soldier. My earliest Ontario record (land) for him is 1826. He probably was employed in building the Rideau Canal, 1829.

Henry married Miss MILLS ca 1830. She died after giving birth to their only child Ruth. In about 1834 Henry then married Elizabeth RUTLEDGE, who was about 20 years younger. They produced some 10 children. My great grandfather Edward was born in 1844. Elizabeth died 8 months after the birth of their last child, Leticia, in 1854. Henry died 1867 and is buried at Richmond, Carleton County, Ontario.
