Thanks my friend! Miss you! Yep I think I am ready here (well as ready as you can be for something like this). Having been through Hurricane Fran in 1996 is actually a help because you know more what to expect and how to prepare for it.

My daughter is with her father for the storm, so I'm on my own here. I've got water, batteries, oil lamps, candles, flashlights, waterproof matches and canned food. So I can hunker down for a bit if need be.

The biggest problem here will be downed trees blocking driveways, the roads out of the neighborhood, and them taking down the power lines. I'm surrounded by tall trees here and so is the rest of the neighborhood.

After Fran we lost over 40 trees in the front and couldn't count how many in the back. Hopefully we won't get the full brunt this time as far as the winds go. Wish me luck!

If you don't hear from me for a while don't worry - it will be due to power outages here. With Fran we were without power for 12 days! But the phones still worked. At this rate I may have to rename myself "Dorothy" lol...
