The UK is a great nation with the world's 4th largest economy and the world's 4th largest military, so you can see why most people in Northern Ireland want to remain in the UK. It is similar to the states of the US. Why would Florida want to become independent from the US? As an independent nation it would be far less powerful, but as part of the US it is a part of the largest economy and the largest military in the world. So why should Northern Ireland go to the Republic?
