J'xom tensed, then forced himself to relax, noticing his heart had jumped a beat or two in his chest.
He tried to think of something to say, but unable to, he held her closer.
"Shh...It's ok." He said, trying to soothe her, after awhile he added, very quietly and hesitantly.
"I like you too Raen, I'm just so scared of being rejected..." He tried to manage a weak grin, but it failed and he once more took up silence, his eyes reflecting his fear.
Did I do this? I didn't mean too... I didn't want to hurt anyone...
Xanth looked on, knowing his rider oh too well to have any doubts.
