Subject: Ranskin wondered why the girl's smile seemed so patronizing, but he said nothing about it. He just smiled back and continued to lead the way. They traveled on in silence for the remainder of daylight. As the forest grew dark, Ranskin called for a halt in a small clearing. Quickly, the two made camp for the night, and it wasn't long before they had a toasty fire made.
