Subject: Crap, I forgot how Time Lords actually differed from humans! >< >< They just look like humans on the outside, folks..
In reply to: The Master, Cerberus, and Puella 's message, "omg nu hope for t3h you >:D" on 22:35:59 06/21/04 Mon

Time Lords are not /completely/ humanoid. X_x. They have two hearts. Both beat at the same time. There is a definite advantage: when one fails, the other still handles the bloodstream with no strain, and circulation is very fluid and runs easily through the vessels, which do not often clog. The respiratory system is much more advanced. A Time Lord can take a breath and direct it to a sac in the lungs, where it can be held and identified. Poisonous fumes can be stored like this, safely, but with prolonged holding will eventually seep into the body. Another very significant difference is the regeneration of the Time Lords. They begin their life, and - on some occasions - when they die, they start anew, changing into a different body, though still human in appearance. The general personality remains similar, though each form will have their quirks. Usually, all the regenerations are the same gender, but sometimes that will change. A Time Lord can regenerate twelve times, but 'regeneration one' refers to the first body, not the first actual change, so each Time Lord can have a maximum of thirteen bodies before they will die of old age. Only the first form will appear to grow older, from being a child to an elder, and only the first will seem to die of old age before regenerating. The other regenerations can be at pretty much any stage of their life, leaning generally into the 30-60 years old range, and do not age physically. However, after about a hundred or three years or so in one body - the variations are great - the Time Lord can just drop dead and regenerate, even if they seem perfectly fine. This spontaneous aging can not be predicted easily - the brain patterns only begin to change minutes within the event. Another skill of the Time Lords is their ability to 'contact'. This can only be done with another Time Lord. They will touch each others' temples, usually, although it can be done by simply holding their own. The latter requires a lot more concentration, and the touching of the other has become more of a tradition. Then, the word 'Contact' is spoken by both. Usually the Time Lord to suggest it will ask 'Contact?' and hold out their hand, then the other will confirm with 'Contact.' and do the same, and then they touch. Basically what this is is a short telepathic exchange of anything in the mind - memories, words or pictures, ideas, and information can be shared like this. The information to be sent is held in a channel in the brain that basically asks the Time Lord if it really wants the information sent before it does, so secrets of unnecessary information cannot leak out to the other.

By the way, 'Time Lord' is an all-encompassing term for them. 'Time Lady' is actually only sparingly used for female Time Lords, usually if the one speaking it is trying to make a point.

The Master was in his very last form, but he stole the body of King Tremas of Traken to prolong his life.
