Name: Fern

Gender: Female

Age: 21

Description: In a halfway state of shifting, Fern has not exactly retained her good looks. She still has a humanoid figure and face, but protruding out of her back are light purple spikes, non retractable and deadly. She has made a thick leather cloak with specially configured holes to fit around this adjustment. Beneath the spikes are hard "plates" that act as a shell beneath the skin, protecting her spine from gunfire and blades. Sprouting from her shoulders are a pair of clear wings at least five feet long. White veins run through the appendages, the only thing that makes them visible. They are not meant for long distances, only hovering and reaching high places. Standing at 4'5, Fern finds this ability most helpful. Other than those shifts and her razor sharp teeth, Fern looks like a normal human. What you don't see are the enormous lungs capable of holding twice as much air as a normal human's. Hidden also are her second pair of arms, powerful suction cups in place of hands retracted into her abdominal and marked only by two slits in her sides. Fern wears a deep blue velvet dress with sea green veins laced through the fabric under her cloak. Her chestnut brown locks curl around her porcelain face, two fuzzy antennae protruding from the red-brown hairs to create yet another contrast of her shifted form against her human one.

Personality: Fern is deeply intrigued by science and studies. She is often thought of as calm and quiet, an intellectual persona deeply immersed in her studies. She believes in ideas and challenges, but has the irritating tendency to notice other's failures with contempt. Lately, partly due to her recent Link, she has been catching herself from saying some things she would later regret. Still, the occasional condescending remark does emerge, denoting her as arrogant. Fern really does try to keep people from thinking this way about her, though. She just can't help being as smart as she is, for Fern is a young genius with photographic memory and soaring IQ. Fyrae has been a blessing to her in that the Gold understands her Linked’s odd way of thinking, the way she jumps from step A to step D because she already knows what happens in between.

History: Ever since her Link with Fyrae, Fern has become more open to people, especially those of the opposite gender. The lovely Gold has egged her into being a light tease, as well as helping her with catching the more sarcastic comments that try to emerge. As for early history, there really isn't much to tell. Fern was lonely in her studies; her only friends were the books that she read and the walls that confined her for years of solitude with only empty knowledge and a lack of belonging. All that changed with Fyrae, the graceful, longhaired, adult Gold.
