Character Description
Name: Mirrhel Jezikqii (meer EL jez EEK ee), or "Ace" as he was called in school.
Gender: Male
Age: 54; young adult, just old enough to venture out of his village and into the world on his own.
Description: A brown-themed tricolor Khochete, with the dark shade a rich chocolate color, the midshade a sandy tan, and the light a near-white in hue. He has expressive blue eyes.
Ace carries with him a small array of both old and new items: phasers, scanners, comlinks and the like, as well as daggers, throwing stars, and a small bag of Ni'een currency- Igya, numbering in the millions. (Ni'een currency is severely inflated, with several thousand Igya roughly equalling one American dollar) He wears no clothing save a belt which carries his weapons and other posessions.
Ace stands at a height of 8'10" and is quite strong. His limbs are correctly proportioned and muscular, his face the picture of Khochete perfection. There is nothing extraordinary about his appearance, but his personality is the loophole in his seemingly perfect adherence to his species' standard.
Personality: He's a frashing brick. Cruel, sarcastic, and quick-tempered, Ace knows his species' tendency to be mellow and peaceful and uses that fact to his advantage. He makes a perfect thief or assasin- and that is exactly what he makes his living doing. Others assume by his exterior that he is the embodiment of the perfect Khochete, personality and all. When they least expect it though, they are awakening on the ground with a splitting headache and whatever valuable they were carrying gone.
Ace has a brilliant mind, but he uses his heightened intelligence for the wrong uses.
History: Raised in a respectable family, Ace was a good kid- until he learned that it was much more fun (and profitable) to be the bad guy and finish first than to be the nice guy and finish last. He became increasingly difficult for his parents to handle, and finally, on his 45th birthday, they gave him their blessing and gave him the opportunity to leave their house and live on his own. Ace jumped at the chance; the next day he left, and his parents never saw him again despite the fact that they'd heard of his many theiving exploits with great sorrow.
When Ace heard of greater opportunities beyond Ni'ija, he jumped on (*cough*hijacked*cough*) the nearest transport ship he could find and sped off to find adventures in other lands...
Species: Khochete (pronounced co CHET)


Species Description

Height at Shoulder: When standing on two legs, females stand from 6-8 feet and males from 7-9 feet. When on all four legs females reach 3-4 feet and males 4-5 feet.
Coloration: Khochete can be either tri-color or one solid color. Tri-coloreds, or tris, can have a brown, grey, or yellow color scheme. Solids can be any of those, including black and white.
A tri-colored Khochete has somewhat complex markings made with three different shades of the same base color (brown, grey, etc.) in a set pattern. The shades of color on their fur will be addressed as dark, mid, and light to try and keep things simple. Tris have mid-shade ears, backs, tails, and finger/toes. The bridge of their muzzle is mid-shade, as is their forehead/crown. A streak of mid-shade fur runs down the outside of their arms and legs mid-way to the elbow or knee, respectively. Also, there are two mid-shade spots on their cheekbone, aligned on a diagonal towards their throat.
The tips of their ears are dark-shaded, as are the rims of said extremities. They have a dark-shade nose, tailtip, and three bands on the Khochete's tail. The area surrounding their eyes from their lower eyelid to their eyebrow is also dark-shaded, as is a stripe running from the outer corner of their eye down the edge of their cheek. A band of dark-shade fur runs along the edge of the mid-shade fur on its back and legs, separating the mid-shade fur from the light fur.
Running from the lower edge of the tri-colored Khochete's ear is a stripe of mid-shade fur, running separate from the band of dark-shade. A band of light fur clearly separates the dark-shade fur from the mid-shade fur. This stripe of mid-shade fur runs along the neck, underside of the arms and crossing mid-forearm, and running along the side of the belly and onto the hind leg, where it runs down the front edge of the limb and makes a V shape, arcing back up to the Khochete's buttocks and ending there.
There is a V-shaped band of dark-shade fur 3/4 down the forearms near the wrist and a similar band of dark-shade fur 1/2 way down the hind leg, between the knee and the hock joints.
Between the 3rd stripe on the tail and the dark-shade tailtip is lightshade fur.
I told you it was complicated.

Solid-colored Khochetes are much simpler: They are completely one solid color, with little hue variation.
Their eyes can be blue, yellow, green, brown, grey, or gold, and their claws can be a natural clear/pink color or a matte black.

Species Description: Rather kangaroo-like in appearance, these humanoid-ish bipeds are /not/ furries, but do have the general body shape of such. Their arms and legs are equal in length to allow them to run on all fours if neccesary, and their hands are equipped with pads on the fingertips and palm to cushion the appendage when running in said style.
These herbivores have graceful necks, kangaroo-like heads and ears, and large expressive eyes. They have long, silky whiskers on their muzzle and above their eyes, used not to feel their way in tight places but to sense tiny currents in the air and also to 'taste' whatever they brush up against. This is helpful because the Khochete has an almost nonexistant sense of taste on its tongue. Instead it samples its food through the use of its whiskers and sensitive nose. However powerful these senses may be, they've got nothing on the Khochete's amazing sense of hearing. Their long, tapering lapine-esque ears can hear even the tiniest sound from miles away.
They have long, graceful tails, ending in a clump of slightly-longer fur. These tails are semi-prehensile and are mainly used for balance.
Their limbs are long and tapered, muscular though not in an obvious way, and end in three-digited paws. They are not the fastest runners, though their great endurance will allow them to run nonstop for days, only stopping for food, water, or to relieve themselves. On two legs they can reach speeds of 15-25mph, though on all fours they can achieve up to 50-75mph. They are great leapers, though they are able to do their best jumping when given a fairly long running start.
Their handpaws have two 'fingers' and one opposable thumb, situated a little forward from where the human thumb would be. Each of these end in a short but sharp claw. Their hindpaws are built rather tyrannosaurus-like in the arrangement, though they are not dinosaurian in appearance. The middle toe is longer than the others, and each is tipped in a sharp claw.

Overall the Khochete is very graceful and gentle-looking, as their fur is fairly long and very soft to the touch. Said fur is slightly longer and more coarse at the nape of the neck/shoulders, and form a sort of scarcely noticeable mane. Many do wear clothing/jewelry, though fewer wear them constantly- most only wear the light, comfortable items when they are in public. However, it is not socially unacceptable to see a nude Khochete in the marketplace, though some- mostly the socially higher-ranked- find it distasteful.
They are fairly resistant to sickness and disease, so that they may live from 175-190 years of age if left to die of natural causes.

Species Temperment: Their temperment varies, though most are easygoing, friendly creatures. In familiar territory they live in villages, which can either be of their same species or have a mixed-race population, but when they find themselves in places other than their homeland they tend to travel alone or in groups of 2-4.
Khochete are herbivores, their diet mostly consisting of fruit and nuts, occasionally including vegetables and roots. They do not drink water unless in times of dire need, as they get all the moisture they need from their diet and are excellent at retaining fluids.
