Subject: Determination of total fat in dried milk using Soxhlet

I am calling you from NutriDar, a baby food manufacturer in Jordan. We purchased a Gerhardt Soxhlet unit three months ago aiming to determine fat in our products ( infant formulae, baby cereals and baby tea ). It was OK for all the products but with the infant formulae samples the results were much below the expected figures. It looks to me that a special sample preparation may be needed to acheive good results.
I need your help , please send me a procedure for the determination of total fat in dry milks in general and/or a procedure for the determination of fat in infant formulae.
Regards
Dr. Omar Jawan
Quality Director
