Can you look at it on a scope? Does the presence of split-sync correspond with the inversion of the video? If not, then the code will not be able to track the mode changes. Also, could they be changing the burst inversion as well?

The actual mode-change info should be in the form of positive and negative edges on lines 16 and 260. When I have the time I'd like to make the code look on those lines instead of merely detecting the presence of split-sync. That would be the correct way to do it.
