Hi HW,

What system are you on; ie, who makes the set top box? What does it look like on the scope? Can you see the horizontal sync pulses at all, are they split and/or pushed up into the video? If you can see the sync pulse edges then you should be able to lock to them. That reminds me though... the edge detectors seriously needed to be tweaked in the 4.2. Let me pull up the schematic.... change R3 and R6 to 3.3K and you should see a big improvement. A more conservative change would be changing them to 2.2K but it wasn't quite enough to make mine truly reliable, 3.3K made it work great as I recall.

The 200kHz sounds like the old sync in the audio subcarrier system.
