To get at the wire near the transformer you need to remove the hot melt glue which is there for a good reason - the live mains pin of the PCB mounted transformer is very near and will be exposed. Not a good situation to be probing around with a piece of wire in poor lighting especially if you're in a hurry to get the show back on.
This reset glitches the battery backed supply to the cpu and static ram so stands as good a chance of killing the box as resetting it, as I found out.
