Another idea would be to have a code that cuts the path of the signal to the pulse detectors during active video line, after the controller has locked (that is suppose to prevent unwanted video content to disturb the job of the pulse detectors); something that would do the job for lock LED too. Actualy, the blanking pulse and a section of a 4066 could be used right now, with the codes in use...
For those that do not need inverted signal, the amplifier in the path of the signal is not neded (but it makes sense in the path toward the pulse detectors); a npn emiter follower at the input and a pnp em. foll. at the output would do the job, keeping in mind the idea of DC coupling...

PS I came with this ideas because the original 3 chip was conceived to be a simple, cheap circuit, with acceptable performances, to be built without difficulties in a fairly large volume; when you do something for your self, (and you want to put it in a tv that has a pip -- meaning a higher class tv set) you want to have something stable, of good performances and 10 dollars more doesn't count...
