A good look with a cro would reveal more - I'd be looking at the size of the sync pulses in relation to the rest of the signal and trying the 'brightness' adjustment which affects this relationship. I get the the best result just before it becomes unstable and I'm working with a weakish signal due to trees in the signal path.
I've got a working 50Mhz unit but I don't think the improvement over 20MHz is exactly worth the extra trouble in setting it up plus at my place I need to submit an application in advance to take the 'service' out for research & development now.
