first you must have an idea of what video you want to make, instruction video, self-help video .. ?
if you just want to make some small budget video for retail sell, i think it/'s adequate to use amatuar equipment. however you must have some knowledge in editing, directing, cinematograophy.
i suggest you read some books like, "shot to shot" which is great for beginning director and it's short and easy to learn.
