Author: Lord Schism
Subject: "O ho, the Draconium miners? Interesting waters that.."
In reply to: Lord Betacron 's message, "Betacron thought for a moment" on 19:24:35 01/18/02 Fri

The modified aerodrone(whose alternate mode was, fittingly enough, an ocean vessel), still hovered behind Betacron and Hegemon's seats.

"Weren't you a general over there Lord Blowfish, before getting your senate appointment? Boring work, fishing for rocks if you ask me, nowhere near as satisfying as a nice fillet o' cybertrout..."

A loud slam echoed throughout as Maritime finally extricated himself from the "assistant's lounge."

"Sorry sir, fellow senators. But seeing as how Lord Betacron already disabled the biosignature alarm with his swordstrike, and given the gravity of the emergency at hand, I respectively think we should forego that rule in this instance. Besides, Kit and Blurr are already present as well."

Schism continued talking, oblivious to anything his assistant had just said.

"Yes...a nice cybertrout, maybe an energon glaze....good, good..."

"Sir. If time is indeed an obstruction, perhaps it would be wise to consider the option of the miner's fleet. Working together with the Dracans, our people have surely created a formidable guard for the precious ore found in that star system. To some degree we see Cybertron as the center of the SPUniverse, as I am sure many worlds do. If things fall apart and the center cannot hold, who knows what could be next? I realize Draco would be left unprotected if the fleet came here but if Cybertron fell, it would be a matter of time before other worlds fell as well."

"Or maybe a good old-fashioned techno-squid from Quintessa...now THAT would be a feast!

Did you say something Maritime? Anyway, where was I. Oh yes! The Omicron guppies! Hey, if they can get our fish out of the frying pan Blowfish, I say call your old buddies! The more the merrier!"

Maritime glanced at Blurr and Eulogy, then to Kit and Lye-Onitron. He longed to assist a sane senator or, more ambitiously, perhaps to sit at the table himself one day. Many had discounted his words, giving little value to what he had to say through bias of class or faction. If his own senator ignored him, why should any of the others listen?

On Cybertron, the end of the world was as common as the weather. But the Vehiconian occupation had weakened it. Maritime realized this now. Cut off from the old colonies and starbases, and focusing on rebuilding at home, the unity that had in the past staved off major threats like Unicron was no longer present. Though at his worst Betacron's insanity clearly overshadowed the comic rantings of Maritime's own senator, the Predacon dinosaur had actually hit upon the real weakness of the new regime. Their brethren, scattered as far as Braxis, Draco, and countless other worlds, would be needed on the homefront if any of them were to survive...
