As the Senate building shook, the greenish glow through the high tinted modesty windows as ominous as it was mysterious, the ancient female seeker's rasping tones broke the silence...

"Bangs and whimpers Senators? How fitting for a history so plagued with multiple civil conflicts that our last days be so dichotomous in nature....

Last days? No argument? Nothing but silence as the attack from this unknown foe finally arrives? Communication cut off, rising unrest below so great that even in beyond our reinforced steel walls we hear our peoples' cry? Senators, though our world lost much under Vehicon occupation...." she paused, feeling Schism's mad optics upon her, "Our military is strong and, thanks to Lord Betacron's foresight, already well in position.

We don't even know what this IS yet...but our fleet DOES. You think that rumbling outside is the end of Cybertron? Decius....you must understand...perhaps even you, Senator Lux. Oh, many was the night that I soared the Cybertronian skies with my fellow seekers, raining death down upon your kind. The early civil wars? Those were nothing.

Nothing, Senators.

Our world has been torn from its orbit not once but twice. It has felt the devastation wrought by the chaos-bringer himself and survived. True rebuilding took time and my people were exiled to Charr, but as bad as Cybertron was in those days what was the fleshling expression? 'You should see the other guy.'

Most of you in this room have seen battles. I have seen WAR. And those sounds you're hearing? Those vibrations you're feeling? War. Are we winning? We know this has just begun.

That is all.

A war is not pretty, and victory will always come at a cost, often great. I've lost my share of friends and...partners. But to consign to despair early on? No, listen to the cries below. Were I younger I would be out on those very frontlines, fighting the enemy to the bitter end no matter what. Let us leave the foreign dispute to our capable military now, helpless though we might feel... She paused, her words striking a very personal chord within. "Our role now is the domestic concern. Is this great enough to call civilians into service? What do we even tell the populace? This government of ours is young an unstable as it is; our people WILL demand answers, either from the Chancellor, the Council, or ourselves.

Who tells them first? Out there they've already seen more than any tier of Cybertronian rule. What do we tell them? And when?

Bangs or whimpers....there is a choice. And even then, it might yet be the proverbial 'other guy'...."

The senators sat in silence still as the building shook anew, and the seeker held her head low. Was this the end after all? Were words the last weapon in her rusted arsenal? She didn't know and, as more time passed and Hydrus IV seemed further out of her reach, she was slowly ceasing to care...
