Subject: Abel Cortinas - Former Euphonium

To those who may have played with him in the Army Field Band...

I'm sorry to bring this upon you during the holiday season, but on Saturday December 27th around 2:00 pm, Abel Cortinas was admitted to the University Hospital in San Antonio, Texas with critical due to head injuries due to a fall from a ladder. Doing what he has always been known to do, helping, he was assisting his neighbor with something on a roof and fell about 15 feet. He is currently in the Emergency Room and is in a coma and in extreme critical condition. The doctors have predicted a zero chance of recovery. He is currently on life support, and he might not have much time. Abel's brothers and other family are currently deciding on what action to take on the matter. His mother (91 years old) does not know yet, because the family is not sure how she is going to accept the news, so if you know her, please don't let it get around to her before her family has the chance of notifying her. It would be greatly appreciated if you kept Abel and his family in your thoughts, or prayers, or whatever you wish to call it. But please be pulling for him as much as you can. Anybody who has crossed paths with Abel know how much of a caring and altruistic person he is. He needs us now more than EVER! If you have the chance, and he's still in the emergency room, please try and stop by and make sure he knows you are with him in his time of need. If you know anybody that might know him, please pass this information along. I am sorry for such bad news, and thank you for your time.

~Jason Casanova - Euphonium - Student of Abel Cortinas
