Subject: Col Whiting

Chet Whiting gets my vote for a place in the Hall of Fame. As I understand, he brought the mand from a National Guard band to the Americal Division band in the South Pacific to the First Combat Infantry Band to the Army Ground Forces Band and into its present form. He deserves all the recognition we can give him ! I feel honored to have performed under his direction.

I too was a member of the 1st Combat Infantry Band under the command of Chief Warrant Officer Chester E. Whiting in 1945. He should definitely be elected to the Hall of Fame for conductors. I know its been 60 years but I'd love to hear from some member of the 1st Combat Infantry Band. I was the popular vocalist.

Is Col Whiting alive, and how can I get in touch with him?

Col. Whiting certainly gets my vote, I performed under his direction for 3 years and found his devotion to the band and it`s continuation, his life`s work.
