A Fathers Tears

A dark shadow conceals the silver lining
Of a moon that belongs in the past
The remembrance of a love broken
And the ugly destiny the stones of fate cast

I have given of my heart until no blood remains
I gave unto you the last vestiges of my soul
I had delivered my spirit unto your cold embrace
Of my mental processes I had lost all control

Alas one day you took what god gave us
You desecrated it, destruction beyond repair
The fruit we had born unto this world
Was left crying, a sight I couldn�t bare

The innocence of their youth was scarred
The feelings of trust were no longer there
I had to take them into another place
To show them what it means to care

I guess it took me too long a time
I know I should have seen it from the start
But I was blinded by my dreams and fear it seems
Of the loneliness that would creep into my heart

But loneliness doesn't lead to love
It only brings you tears on a cold night
Dreams are best kept in the images of your mind
So now I must try and make things right

For you my darling children I will always love
And though my choices have hurt you so
I hope one day you will forgive what I have done
I should have done this such a long time ago
