For The Children
I watched the news today,
The horrible things I saw.
Made me want to run away,
And find somewhere to hide.

The top story of the night,
Was one that made me sit and cry.
I prayed it was an oversight,
That maybe I had misunderstood.

Alas my hopes were not meant to be,
I had heard the newsman right.
Another child, this one just a baby,
Had been taken from her mother’s side.
~*~
It seems like every day,
There’s another alert, another child's face.
Please there has to be a way,
To protect these babies from harm.
~*~
The dangers these children face,
Much too horrible to describe.
Disappearing without a trace,
Their lives a race against time,
~*~
These are our children, our little ones,
Stolen away from their families.
They are scared and all alone,
Crying out for their mommies and daddies.
~*~
They need our help, they need it now,
As adults it is our job.
To stop these monsters someway, somehow,
And keep our children safe from harm.
~*~
For the moment, let us bow our heads,
For their safety we will pray.
To soon be back in they’re own warm beds,
Safe and protected in their families love.
