I could not keep up with the thread,I thought is was best not to comment unless I had read the whole thing.

Generally, force like that for that reason doesn't work with these dogs. It often makes the problem worse. I am not sure what the training background was on that dog.

BUT, I have to say, the whole thing was no revelation to me. That's not the first time I've heard of those training methods.

Actually, trying to breed out "dog aggression" is backwards. You breed for confident, stable dogs, rock-solid in all situations and the dog aggression will take care of itself. There ARE so-called "dog aggression" problems in the breed (we've had some here), but actually it's less than ideal temperament. A correct-temperamented Staf is not all that hard to handle around other dogs. I think where the problem comes in is their readiness to respond once seriously challenged or engaged.

No, I don't agree with that at all and I don't see where she has indicated such.
