received this update from Donna Malone this afternoon:

"Today, RAOT members attended a committee meeting of the County Commissioners at which it was alleged BSL was going to be proposed. The actual draft turned out not to be breed specific.

After RAOT's presentation, the Commissioners directed various government agencies working on the proposed legislation to include me in meetings so I could offer suggestions related to the proposed legislation. The first meeting will occur in the near future.

The proposed ordinance will go on the consent agenda for first reading this coming Monday, but "behind the scenes" tweaking will continue. All in all, the proposed initial draft of this ordinance is fairly well written compared to most that we have seen. There are a few problem areas that we hope to be able to change for the better so that they more adequately protect the interests of responsible owners, the welfare of animals, and, finally but most importantly to the Commissioners, the interests of all the citizens in our County.

I will continue to keep you advised of developments as they occur. Thanks for your interest and support.
