TASK FORCE SUBCOMMITTEE MEETINGS SET FOR FEB 5 AND FEB 8, 2002

The Legislative Subcommittee will meet Tuesday, February 5 at 1:30 PM in the
Bromfield Building, Ohio Department of Agriculture, Reynoldsburg, Ohio. This
committee is reviewing the laws pertaining to dog fighting in Ohio, and is
preparing potential changes, presumably to strengthen it. Dog owners must be
ever vigilant with this committee, as proposed changes could impact innocent
pet owners as well as dog fighters, depending on the language used.

The Public Awareness Subcommittee will meet Friday, February 8th at 1PM in
the Bromfield Building, Ohio Department of Agriculture, Reynoldsburg, Ohio.

Notification and confirmation for these meetings was obtained on Friday,
February 1 from the Ohio Department of Agriculture.

These are public meetings, and the public is encouraged to attend. An
extremely short public comment period is offered at each meeting. Written
statements and other support materials may be given to committee members at
time of public comment.

TASK FORCE REPRESENTATIVE FOR DOG FANCY APPOINTED

Tammy Price of Lewistown, Ohio will serve on the task force to represent the
interests of the dog owning public. Pet owners, breeders, dog trainers, dog
clubs, and those who enjoy the benefits of dog ownership may communicate
with Tammy via email at tkotammy@hotmail.com. Tammy is a show-dog
enthusiast, a member of the Staffordshire Terrier club of America, and has a
background in Humane Shelter Management and Animal Control. Her unique blend
of experience will serve dog owners well on the task force. Tammy has
accepted a position on the Resource Development, Training, and Education
subcommittee. This committee is responsible for developing the training
materials and identifying resources available to enforcement agencies and
personnel to identify and combat dog fighting.
