Subject: Aliases, Yea or Nay?

How do you feel about a political message board allowing the use of aliases? Do you think that it creates a more hostile environment? Does it create an atmosphere for abusing others by the use of unfounded rumors? Will people, for purely obnoxious reasons, willingly trash another's reputation because they have the option to remain anonymous?

On the other hand, do you think that more people will post to a message board because they can ramain anonymous and therefore not opening themselves up to personal attack, humiliation, and insults? Do you think that some people might have very important facts and information that you may never hear unless they have the option to post anonymously? Do you think that a totally anonymous political site serves an important function in today's political arena… whether yes/no, why?
