Now look at it from another prospective. The early church developed as Jerusalem was destroyed. An army gathered outside Jerusalem and grew for years (the Romans did not loose many battles that they prepared for, they waited for overpowering odds and then attacked). The writing was on the wall as it were, the smart or fearful ones got out. The faithful flock outside of Jerusalem were the oppressed of the times (a LOT of slaves) who were given equal status with their masters in things that mattered.
So where are we driven from, and who are the downtrodden of our age that we should be ministering to?
