"I don’t think this is the right place to be talking about this.
If you want more info email Steve or better yet come to the TH night fellowship he is more than willing to answer anything….. Here are the facts as I understand them to be

1. Steve works 10-12 hour days sometimes more
2. about 80% of UCMI is not filling out reports and 99% are not giving
3. in the very near time those who do not submit reports and give will be cut loose.
4. for the most part Steve runs the show on this own and spends most of his time doing administrative things (Things someone else could if everyone would give as little as 1-3% of their income to their covering. (This is about that amount required of most of the groups to be given by their minister’s to maintain their credentials.
5. UCMI/UCAI and such is so much more than what you see online is is NOT a web based ministry.
6. This is not a game and not game show to entertain anyone this is about those who are serious doing serious work. If you want to know whats going on put forth more effort than posting what amount to nothing more than complaints make the effort to come to fellowship and find out. (You would not complain to your home church and at the same time never show up on Sunday and not give weekly or monthly .

Lastly if you are not giving to this ministry and are not making efforts to support it while still draining its resources by being under its covering this ministry owes you nothing you are dead weight. While we do not give to get we can only get out as much as we give

So lets let things be done in Gods time and Grow out of or self-interested need for everything now and all at once remember its not about us"

Response:

With all due respect, this is a public forum wher UCMI members may communicate openly and freely about ministry-related matters, including happenings at UCMI. So I do not think anyone did anything deserving of admonishment for asking some valid questions or mentioning come valid concerns. You seem to know something more than the general membership about plans to "cut loose" as you say. I don't think it is too much to ask that procedural matters be posted at a public format where all members can see what is expected. If the plan is to cut loose those who will not support, fine, but say so, clearly and openly. By the way, I, and I suspect the others who posted at this thread, am one who complies with the yearly renewal, yearly fee and monthly giving. So I am concerned about the statement about "oweing nothing" or "dead weight" which seems out of place here, in keeping with your very logig that, perhaps, such matters should be discussed privately. You admonish others and then act judgmental and with harsh words in a public format...whereas those who have posted at this thread simply asked some valid questions or mentioned some valid concerns. So I don't get that at all. I don't see that anyone was questioning Steve's involvement; they were questioning if members are meeting their obligations, wondering if this has affected the lack of follow up on certain projects. So there is no need to convolute this into something it is not. I am sure Steve puts in his time as you say. But this ministry is about providing covering for ordination and it is not the same thing as a physical church that provides worship, teaching, pastoral care, etc. The service UCMI provides is very specific and, in keeping with that, those members who do meet theri obligations are, no doubt, providing an appropriate giving, which is not the same that would be expected of the church where one worships on a wekly basis. UCMI does provide a needed and valuable service, but I think the admonishment given about the level of support to be given is out of place and a faulty analogy. And many members are engage in their ministries and working elsewhere and are not free to join the fellowship during the scheduled time. So I don't think it is appropriate to say that members must come to that scheduled event to ask questions or receive communication about some basic questions or concerns that can, appropriately, be addressed in the public format which is an appropriate venue for the dissemination of such information that is of interest to and affects UCMI's membership. Again, this was not about questioning Steve's time spent in running UCMI (where was that brought up?), the only concern a member posted was that more regular communication was needed from the pastor running UCMI, and that seems like a reasobale request that could easily be handled (perhaps by a regular monthly post regarding events or happenings at the ministry's home office). So, please, let's not over-react and admonish where it is uncalled for and unwarranted. I am sure we are all thankful for UCMI and that Steve has created this ministry. The posts made at thread did not question that.

I just wanted to post this much publically as I felt it was appropriate to respond to the statements you made in a publlic format. This is not done is any disrespectful or spiteful way.

Respectfully,

Tom Donoho, A.A., B.A., AACP, DCP
Guiding Light Ministries (a UCMI chartered ministry)
