I have done some reading in that area as one of my favorite theolongians holds that view. One point of clarity however, there are degrees to which some of those who hold this veiw carry their beliefs. None that I have come across deny that the return of Christ has not yet been fulfilled. He is our soon coming King.

A great book that compares the preterist view with other views of the tribulation is: The Great Tribulation Past or Future? By Thomas Ice and Kenneth Gentry. The two writers hold opposing views.

I can see the validity of some of the points preterists make concering images in Revelation but I have not been convinced to leave behind more mainstream positions.
