Hello Eric,

Guess everyone has been missing what Jeremiah was saying for the last 400-500 years or so. If they would have had an NASB they would have been more enlightened. Who says the NASB is more accurate anyway? And if one doesn't believe the KJB is accurate then why use it as the primary source of scripture for ones post only to turn around and "correct" it. That is just like the editor of a well known study bible, well, actually the editors of two well known study bibles...the Ryrie and the Scofield. They "use" the KJB text then spend all their time correcting it in either the margin or the footnotes or both. Ryrie likes the NASB also...at least a lot of his footnotes read the same as the NASB...and yes I know the KJB translators used notes but only to clarify...not correct. Mr. Wescott and Mr. Hort and their followers are the ones that did all the "correcting"...so much so that the comittee that worked on the "revision" of 1881 actually followed the W&H greek text..as do most of the modern "bibles" by the way.

I guess I will just never understand why a person would quote from a bible they don't consider accurate. Why not just put it aside and use whatever one "feels" is accurate then one won't have the need to "correct" it.

I also wonder if it is a coincidence that the traditional color used to indicate one is in mourning is black...ever notice how a lot of hearses are black...memorials are draped in black...police officers wear black bands across their shields to mourn a fallen officer...in liturgical churches the altar is covered in black on Good Friday and Saturday..why is that?...because it is a symbol of mourning.
I also find it interesting that when our Lord was crucified the world was plunged into darkness..the sky was black...God was symbolically mourning for His Son.

Just for fun check out Matthew Henry's Commentary on Jeremiah 8.21.

Grace and peace,
Carl
