Hello David,

I don't know if you are aware of it as I wasn't until a couple months ago. Many states already require three things before they will accept a minister's ordination for civil purposes, such as to obtain authorization to solemnize marriage, minister in state crrectional facilities etc. The three things are...1. Credentials from a VALID MINISTRY...2. Proof that the minister is IN CONTACT WITH with the organization that ordained them...3. That the minister SUPPORTS ( contributes money to) the organization that ordained them.

Although these things are NOT required by God to minister...they ARE required by man to minister in certain areas. Peter writes to us in l Peter 2.13- " Submit yourselves to every ordinance of man for the Lord's sake:" At this time all states do not require all of these but I am certain that more will in the future...as persecution increases for the church...and as problems with the various "ordination mills" like ULC arise. ULC and others like it have no requirements or accountability in these areas...that is why some states are already reluctant to accept their "ordination" for civil purposes. Now, if you don't plan on getting involved with civil government, then ordination from God alone is all one needs.

Brother Steve is either aware of these facts already or has anticipated them and made provisions for them. I for one was very happy to see these changes made. All they have done is further validate the credential and ordination process used by UCMI which gives our ordination more credibility with the world of man.

UCMI has set NO dollar amount that must be given either in the monthly "tithe" or annual gift. It has been left up to the individual minister to give as the Lord leads. Almost every other association in the world has some form of support attached...and most of the world's organizations WILL tell you what you are expected to give. If you think not, try joining the local country club for a dollar a year!! This is how the organization supports itself, why should UCMI not receive support from us who are members of the association? Who else is going to support it? Certainly not the world of man.

I guess the bottom line is, if one believes in what UCMI is doing enough to seek ordination from it thereby becoming a part of its ministry then one should as one is able be willing to financially support it and be accountable to it.

Grace and peace,
Carl
