Subject: Victory Over Grief and Sorrow

I. Sorrow not - a command.
a. We are redeemed from sorrow.
b. Jesus bore our griefs, our sorrows, weakness, pain, sickness, disease - these are all the same words.
c. Grief - emotional, heavy weight brought about by loss.
d. Lay aside the weight (Hebrews 12:1).

II. Anything Jesus bore on the cross must be resisted.
a. Isaiah 53; Hebrews 2:9-18.
b. Galatians 3; Philippians 3:9-10; 1 Peter 4:12-14.
c. James 4:7 - Resist.
d. 1 Samuel 30:6 - Attack.

III. The Victory is already yours.
a. 1 Samuel 18:1.
b. 2 Samuel 9:1 - All that Mephibosheth received actually belonged to him all the time he was at Lo Debar. He could have claimed it any time had he had a copy of the covenant.

IV. Make the decision to:
a. Put the Word first.
b. Live by faith.
c. Live by love.

V. Steps to victory.
a. Go to the promise (2 Peter 1:1-10).
b. Keep it before you - eyes, ears, mouth (Proverbs 4:21-25).
c. Go to God on the basis of His provision - NOT ON YOUR NEEDS.
d. Speak to the mountain the desired end results - call things that be not as though they were (2 Corinthians 1:28).
e. Praise continually.

VI. Begin a life of diligence today (Proverbs 10:4; 12:24, 27; 2 Peter 1:5).
a. Jesus did not check the fig tree, even after Peter called attention to it.
b. Faith stands at all costs.
c. Faith answers every symptom. Love answers every person.
