^the unexplainable sound dies down and an odd cold wind mingles across the hot grains stained occasionally by deep crimson red, swinging them up into its chilled arms then dropping them again, carrying a much more valuable cargo in its stride. the wrenching cry rises again, lingering determinedly as if struggling to remain heard, the notes of the desperate call reverberating seemingly from the very sands and at the same time from the skies... then, silence. as the call halts abruptly, something shutters in the sky, falling slowly. swinging back and forth in a lazy twirling descent, a lone arctic owl's feather comes into view.. tinted just barely with the sullen grey of ashes near the end of the shaft. it settles calmly on the sand, alone, but seeming to breath with a beating, lost magic in itself, as if it was all that is left....^
