Happy belated Valentine's Day!

Well, I bought Alicia, my girlfriend, some fun things and took her to a very pleasant meal at Bacchanalia's in Atlanta.

Shame on me, though... I'll admit I was overly concerned about how much everything would cost. I'm not hurting for money or anything, its just...its...

Well, with Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones being released in a lil' under 3 months, I've got action figures to worry about!!

Seriously!!!

It appears as though the release of the Episode II toys will be on (or around) April 23rd.

"So? A few little 3 3/4" figures and a couple vehicles. Boo-hoo, it can't be that bad, can it?", you may ask.

YES IT CAN!!

Let's take a look back at 1999, I spent $364.04 on Episode I toys in 1 day! That's not counting the regular release of Classic Trilogy toys..

Anyone who's followed Star Wars toys as well as I have knows that Hasbro over-produced a glut of Episode I product. You can still walk right into your local TRU (Toys R' Us) and find Episode I figures. Hasbro doesn't always learn from past mistakes, but hopefully they will this time.

I've got a few peeks at the upcoming releases, thanks to the internet coverage of the 2002 NY Toy Fair. Hasbro's dropped the Comm-Tech chips in favor of better sculpting and more accessories this time around. And with the addition of RealScan technology to aid sculpters, the figures have made a considerable leap in likeness accuracy. Wow, that Darth Tyranus figure really looks like Christopher Lee! Go Hasbro, go!

There's several LARGE side items. The arena playset is HUGE!! I'd bet its the largest playset ever released (yes, I'm also counting the Death Star Playset from the 80's in my estimation). How much will this cost??

Plus, there's several vehicles. The Jedi Starfight, a re-issue of Slave I, two speeders, and the *LARGE* Clone Gunship. How much will this cost??

And there's several beasts being released. The Reek, a large monster, will probably fetch (at least!) $20.99.
But he's not alone, there's also this insect-looking thing and some other creature called the Nexu. How much will this cost?

And then there's the 12" figures, which I normally do not collect. But I might! You never know!?! How much will this cost?

Please remember, this hasn't anything to do with the classic trilogy releases. And there's supposedly a ton of that, too! Ugh! A "crashed" snowspeeder (with dead Dak), a TIE-Bomber (fuck yeah!), and a AT-ST/Speederbike with Ewok rider (Yay! The previous AT-ST release in '95 was very short and a new re-tooled speederbike with Ewok rider [you all remember that scene, don'tcha?] sound great!).

This isn't everything that'll be released in 2002, either. This will cover to summer at best! Ugh! How much will all this cost!?

You're killing me Hasbro.. Absolutely killing me..
