For the first time, the mare stood watch over her foal as night fell. She took this duty very seriously, this evident from her protective stance and watchful gaze. Her eyes frequently strayed to the slumbering form of the colt and her heart melted every time. Finally sleep took its toll and the mare too fell into dreamland.
