"Your kidding, right?" Sara asked in disbelief. She gave Jarod a puzzled look as she held out the phone to him.

"Hello?" He sent the look back to Sara as he listened.

"Who is it?" Ian finally began to pay attention to them.

Sara leaned over consipiratorally whispering, "Dante, Bruno Dante. He'll probably take over as our new captain next year. Wants to come see you work. He is as conservative and by the book as they come."

A broad grin that no good could come from crossed his face, "do I have time to get some flash powder and those little plastic snappy things so I can put on a good show?"

"Smartass!" Damn after that smile she needed another shower, she pulled away from him before she kissed him square on that sassy mouth.

Jarod held the phone to his chest, "do you mind if someone comes to observe?"

"As long as he stays out of my way and leaves if I ask him to go I have no problem, he can come for the show." Ian raised an eyebrow.

Jarod frowned at him as he gave Dante the ok. He began scolding Ian as soon he snapped the phone shut, "you will behave, no tricks, no little jokes, no big jokes, nothing, understand?"

Ian's eyes went all innocent, "I would never!"

"He is your idea of a perfect patsy. I know you and I want your word of honor!"

Ian sunk down in his chair poking his bottom lip out in a pout that really made her wish for that shower. The things she could do with that lip.... "I'll be good." She just bet he would be, Sara gave a little longing sigh that got the attention of both men.

"Sara, I promise I won't embarass you in front of your prospective boss."

Ian had taken her little sigh as distress not desire, good. "I know you won't."

Jarod cleared his throat to break the dreamy gaze between his two co-workers, "ahem, Dante is going to meet us at Dr. Po's lab, so she can give us the report on the skeleton you found. I am going to ask you again...."

"I will be fine, Jarod. It will help me when I go through all those," Ian nodded towards the boxes of naval personel files.

Sara was just as hesitant about him being near the body as Jarod was but she was taking his word that he would be ok.

A cloud of uneasiness fell over both Sara and Jarod as they drove to the morgue. The tension between them was palpable and growing. "Just one trick?" Ian piped up from the back seat.

Jarod snorted out a laugh, "NO!"

Ian grasped Sara by the shoulder giving her a quick squeeze as he sat up and whispered in her ear, "have no qualms, my lady." She rubbed his hand amused at his ingenius way of breaking the tension.

Vicky was chewing thoughtfully on a nail when the now quartet converged upon her. "Should I start charging admission?"

"Dr. Po, please," Bruno Dante wasn't sure about this whole thing, he didn't need Ms Morbid getting wound up.

"Ok, cause of death, unfortunately...."

"Starvation and exposure?" Ian asked quietly.

"You the empath?" Vicky eyed Ian who had been effectively blocked by Jarod and Sara the minute they entered the lab.

"Yes." Ian sidestepped his comrades and offered Vicky his hand, "Ian Nottingham."

"Vicky Po. Was that a caculated guess or did you feel that?"

"Both."

"There were signs of head trauma but not enough to cause death."

Ian approached the table, "he didn't murder him. He didn't know he was alive when he boarded him up."

Dante started to speak but Jarod shook his head, watching Ian carefully. "Was this not our guy?"

"No, it was. This was his son." Ian pulled the sheet away from the little skeleton then turned to Vicky, "He was not right?"

"There are certain skeletal markers that indicate some level of retardation, but they were mild."

"He was high functioning."

"Most likely," Vicky agreed.

Ian looked over at Jarod and Sara, "he wasn't perfect but he was still his son. He would have been loyal to him but not let anyone know about him. He was an embarassment."

"What about the mother?" Sara couldn't imagine a mother letting a husband do something like that to a child.

"She would have been a second wife, young, trophy, flightly. She probably left shortly after realizing the boy was disabled. He probably moved away when she left, no one knew of they boy most likely so he wasn't missed. Those that did know were told she took him. He just ceased to exist...."

"So, what happened, why was the kid in the wall?" Dante finally broke his silence.

"He fell, struck his head, the father thought he was dead, he wanted no inquiry or witnesses so he walled him up."

"Why come back to the same house years later with another kid and kill him there?" Jarod asked.

Ian shrugged, "nostalgia perhaps?"

They left the lab, Dante walked beside Ian, "how do you do this?"

"I honestly don't know. I wish I did."

He nodded. "Pezzini, can I talk to you for a minute?"

"Sure." She was worried he would want her off this case.

"I know you probably weren't thrilled at being taken off your case load and put on this, but I want you to see this through. This was nothing like I expected.

"I will." She knew what he meant, psychics had been used in departments before it was sensationalized by the media and most cops shied away from that but Ian had impressed him. She had never seen Dante impressed by anyone before.

Don't bust their balls, like you do our boys, ok?"

She snorted, "yes, Sir."
