Carson: On the phone is uh.. Justin Timberlake of *NSYNC, Justin, are you there?
Justin (Sounds wicked sad): Yeah, I’m here.
Carson: How ya doin’, man?
Justin: Good, how are you?
Carson: You know. Uh, it’s tough.
Justin: Yeah.
Carson: It’s tough for everybody. It’s tough being here in New York to be honest
with you.
Justin: I’m sure it is... And um... I know it hits home with a lot of people who
were calling in today because everybody was just there for the VMA’s.
Carson: Right.
Justin: So... but I can tell you we’ve all said a million prayers and... and um,
I think that’s the best thing you can do right now, so...
Carson: Have you had a chance, uh.. to get in touch with your family? I know the
long distance lines are down.
Justin: Yeah, yeah I’ve talked to my family and all my friends and .. and
everybody, and everybody I’ve talked to, there hasn’t been one person who hasn’t
known or been affected by what’s going on, I mean, I know someone who worked
close to us and our crew was on one of those planes.
Carson: Yeah... I know, Joey told us.
Justin: That... and it just hits home with so many different people, and you
know, I feel saddened and I get a little bit of anxiety about it lately just
because our unity and our spirituality has been definitely challenged as humans,
and I’m hearing all these wonderful things about people going down, and
volunteering, and giving blood and the fact that they already have too much of
it, and it puts a smile on my face and... um, I think there’s some tests that
have been put before us, and I think we’re passing them, but I mean it’s... it’s
tough, uh like everybody said, it’s just tough and I think we should all, uh..
like John just said, show a sense of morale and, and try to keep this whole
wheel of life going.
Carson: Justin, you’re inarguably the world’s biggest pop group, if, you know,
-- what do you say to your fans, the people that buy *NSYNC’s music, at a time
like this, and on live television, what is... cause they look up to you, they
buy the magazines, they watch you on TRL, everything that comes out of your
mouth is SO important, um... at a tragedy like this, what do you say to the
*NSYNC fans?
Justin: Uh, I think what I’d say to them is, you know, uh... no matter if you’re
you know, Muslim, Buddhist, Christian... say your prayers. Uh... because there
is one thing that we all celebrate, and I said it when I stepped up to the
podium for the first award we won at the VMA’s, I said “Let’s celebrate the gift
of life,” and that’s something we all can agree with. And um, we’re all
different, but we’re all human and that’s what makes us all family, and um... I
think that’s the main thing that I’d want everybody to understand, is that it
doesn’t matter uh... what it is uh, we’re all human and we should all grow to
love each other, so...
Carson: And when does, when does *NSYNC regroup? At what point? What sort of
timeline are you on, I mean here we are coming into a weekend, president Bush is
here in New York...
Justin: Right.
Carson: Um, we’re having a national day of remembrance -- everybody’s praying.
But I think everybody uh, is just bracing themselves. For... for what? For World
War III? I mean, something is gonna go down.
Justin: Yeah. I ... I think, I think, there’s definitely, something’s gonna come
out of this that you know, I don’t think we’re all gonna like to see, but I can
honestly tell you that we’re already putting our heads together, wtih all of our
management, and we’re trying to come up with a really great way to, to help
everyone who’s in need of this, and we’re all gonna do what we can and I know
everybody’s... everybody’s doin’ what they can, and I think... the whole world
is on pause right now, as far as goin’ on with what they thought was important
because you know, this is what’s important, and um... I can definitely tell you,
you’ll be the first to hear about it when we do come up with... with our way to
help.
Carson: Alright, Justin, we appreciate you callin’ in...
Justin: Thank you.
Carson: Um, our best to your family as well, and we’re awfully sorry to hear
about your loss as well.
Justin: Thank you.
Carson: Alright Justin, we’ll be talkin’ to ya soon.
Justin: Alright, God Bless.
Carson: Thanks, you too.
