Hi WOG

I agree to what you wrote. How ever I do think that your use of the word “cult” was out
of line. I do not fault you. I understand that feelings were wore thin and that you are
passionate for what you believe in.

The word cult hit a hot button of mine so I thought I would write a thing or 2.

One of the one of the many parts of of thought reform or cults is this---

Manipulate a system of rewards, punishments and experiences in such a way as to
inhibit behavior that reflects the person's former social identity. Manipulation of
experiences can be accomplished through various methods of trance induction,
including leaders using such techniques as paced speaking patterns, guided imagery,
chanting, long prayer sessions or lectures, and lengthy meditation sessions.

and this

Put forth a closed system of logic and an authoritarian structure that permits no
feedback and refuses to be modified except by leadership approval or
executive order. The group has a top-down, pyramid structure. The leaders
must have verbal ways of never losing. (Singer, 1995)

As you can see Shys board in my opinion does not measure up to anything like a cult. As
long as a person is welcome to post on your board contrary opinions --- as long as they
are being respectful--- then I see no fault either.

Cults are very very nasty..... I know, trust me on this, and if you like I can explain more.

To understand cult mentality from either a leadership point of view or from a followers
point of view is to understand the roots of human behavior and nature its self along with
human culture. Do you notice the similarity of the word “cult” and “culture”.....

This is very interesting to me.

Don
