Is to do a study on God's sovereignty, regarding predetermination and free will and how there is GET THIS....NO CONTRADICTION of the two. An excellant book on the issue is CHOSEN BUT FREE by Dr. Norman Geisler. God has a plan and purpose for everything. God works out His plan in spite of what we think or want. The sure bet is to get in on the right side of the plan. Jesus Christ was in the plan for what reason? To save us from what? Sin and death? We're still sinning and we're still dying. No, Jesus death on the cross was to save us from everlasting punishment. What Universalism does is insult the Spirit of grace by making unholy the shedding of the blood of His Son. It makes the cross meaningless by giving salvation to everybody.

29 How much more severely do you think a man deserves to be punished who has trampled the Son of God under foot, who has treated as an unholy thing the blood of the covenant that sanctified him, and who has insulted the Spirit of grace? (NIV)
