Subject: Pageants in 2002

Here is some information on the most popular pageants in the country for those of you who are interested in participating can use in making you decisions for 2002!

Miss Teen USA~ The most popular Teen pageant around, for the elite pageant participant. Pro's: nationally televised and very prestigious. Con's: VERY high entrance fees and they usually go with the most experienced girl for their winner, a first timer might want to try something smaller first before going for this pageant.

Miss Teen All American~ Same format as Teen USA and a classic All American pageant. Pro's: The owners have been around a long time and the pageant is run very smoothly also a good first timer pageant. Con's: Nationals allows anyone to go even if you haven't won your state pageant as long as you pay the entry fee,so there are around 120 contestants at nationals.

America's Southern Teen~ New pageant but has gained quite a bit of prestige. Pro's: Non-contratual meaning they allow you to compete in other systems while you hold a title with them. Con's: Sorry Northern gals, this one is only for those with those cute southern accents!

Miss North America Teen~ Another new pageant that focuses on the ideals of teens of today. Pro's: Great show, awesome directors and a week of great activities. Con's: Guess you get what you pay for because this national fee is 1,100.00!!!

Miss United States Teen~ Sexy teen pageant that images itself after Teen USA. Pro's: Great for those who have aged out of Teen USA or want to go back to another televised pageant after Teen USA. Con's:Experience is key here, you compete against former Teen USA girls so the competition is tough. Also,they have had some franchise problems in the past year which could hurt the pageant in the long run.

American Coed~ "All American Girls" are what this pageant is looking for. Intellegent, but not always the most beautiful. Pro's: Great for a first timer,awesome national experience the people are so nice and the optional contests are a wonderful way to compete not only in the national pageant, but also in things that you love to do on the side. Con's: This pageant makes you raise 1000 in advertising sales to attend their national even after you have won your state
(most use their state winnings to pay it off). Also,they do a hostess contest that is rather annoying.

All of this information is based on my previous experience as a pageant contestant, and what others have said or I have read about, I hope this helps you all in pageant decision making!
