I was recalled to Reading in late '65 and did 5 and a half months. On day one in my cell on the reception landing got beat around a bit by Screw Robinson.
Spent several weeks during a freezing cold winter in the wire shed stripping cables - fucking miserable. But then got onto the engineers because I'd done Carpentry when at HMBI Rochester. The rest of the time sailed by, except that I was caught smoking in E Wing and put back for two weeks.
The PT was torture sometimes but you have to agree it did us good. When I left in May 66 I was fit as fuck and determined never to go back, and I never did.
I joined the army a couple of years later and fitted in straight away, because I'd learned the ropes in borstal
