>Everthorpe, can't remember the name of the house: housemaster had a mustash and took many of us on the Pennine Way: really enjoyed that! Year was 1963, I was sent there at age 15 (new age limit had just come into force) after escaping in a boat from St Swithin's approved school, Isle of Wight. Everthorpe was alright, the screws that I knew were ok, but there were many bad bastards among the inmates: shitstabbers, thugs and sadists. Hopefully they died of some horrible cancerous growth. Trained as a painter and decorator in Everthorpe: got an apprentiship when I left at 17 ( but not before I did two recalls).
