Hi guys posting on this forum. I was at St Eds in the middle 60's I remember watching England win the world cup(that is something else to remember)
sorry to hear of the passing of Dave Datner. He was a special guy. He was my house master and used to call me Willie ......... because of my last name. When the war with Egypt was declared he was one of the first to volunteer. I remember him just as if it was yesterday. I think my time there was good for me. It took me away from a deprived background and with the help of people like Dave put me back on the straight and narrow. If nothing else I had my first flight in an aeroplane with the air training corps and of course we did the NIgmagen March in Holland. It was tough times and it is easy to remember things with rose coloured glasses, but hey I was young and I survived.
Rest in peace Dave Datner. Here is one guy you helped. Thanks mate Jim
