I was in Crawley house number 95 I spent four years in Stanhope castle school from 1969 to 1974 I won't pull the school down as it was there I was educated learnt to read and write yes I was beaten and kicked given the cane on my backside off Jim melody and Mr Haley also off my house master Mr Johnson but I deserved those beatings I was running away fighting just out of control how ex Stanhope lads can say they brutalized is crap nothing ever went on in Stanhope castle there were lots of bullies in all of the four houses softly house horsley house bewdley house also Crawley house I can only thank Stanhope for making me gain an education and give me manners as I went there an animal out of control I was convicted of burning a house down at ten years of age I was that small I had to stand onabox just to look over the dock as I was given my sentences in 1969 yes I had my fair share of slaps kicks salt pot poured down my throat but that was how every one was treated in those days even our parents give us the belt or slapped you if you done wrong ? No one was given special treatment if you were sent for the cane off Mr melody or Mr Haley you must of deserved what you were about to receive there were some good times at the castle the yearly Whitby camping holidays the sports days the great walks everyday especially the ten mile bolley hope walk those were good days the thing with big schools we were in big dormitories up to twenty INA dorm so you hear lots of stories and crap and I can say after spending four years there . there was no kind of abuse or sexual abuse Stanhope castle school was a great place to be educated and a place that gave you Manner's
