We now resume our normally scheduled programming..... This weekend at Royal Purple Raceway in Baytown is the NMCA-TOPMA Lone Star Shootout. Some of the baddest Hotrods on the planet will be competing in a Quick 8 format in the last Outlaw ProMod event of the year in Texas. Frankie Taylor, Brandon Pesz, Todd Martin Gaylen Smith, Steve Wiley, Randell Reid, Eric Clark, Bill Doucet, Jeff Naiser, Todd Moyer among others are all committed to be there. Eddie went in for Randell Reid who hurt the engine and could not make the call. Despite having the hole shot advantage, he couldn't hold off Tim Cruce in the Stude.

Bill Doucet (RU) 5.151 at 105 mph (.149 RT)
EJ on an off paced run gets the advantage off the line and the win. Doucet goes in for Steve Wiley who broke the converter during qualifying.

Gaylen felt a vibration during the burnout and shut the car off giving Jim a competition bye into the semi-finals.

Eric on another clean and straight pass claiming the win.
Semi-Finals:
EJ Hickl (W) 4.136 at 170 mph (.030 RT)

EJ gets his mojo back and takes the win.
Eric Clark (W) 4.003 at 183 mph (.044 RT)

Both cars left good but EJ encountered tire spin/shake and lifted but Eric was able to cruise down the center of his lane for the victory.
Congratulations to Eric Clark and the Clark Bros team for their FIRST TOPMA win. It's been a long time coming but well deserved! Eric also got the best reaction time points during qualifying. Also congrats to EJ and his team for the runner up finish.

4 and 5 are always pretty close but it was Randell pulling off the upset win over Wiley.
Jim Brinkerhoff (W) 4.210 at 169 mph (.076 RT)
Frankie Taylor (RU) 4.213 at 139 mph (.085 RT)
Both cars left pretty close together but Jim gets a slight advantage which he carries all the way to the finish line. Frankie shut his off due to engine problems.
Eric Clark (W) 3.997 at 183 mph (.003 RT)
Doug Riesterer (RU) 3.995 at 171 mph (.071 RT)
Eric Clark gets best reaction time points for this bad job of red lighting :0) and the holeshot win over Doug.
Gaylen Smith (W) 4.033 at 175 mph (.112 RT)
David Baldwin (RU) 4.374 at 145 mph (.061 RT)
David leaves first but can't hold off the hard charging Bounty Hunter in the other lane and Gaylen takes the win but at a cost....
Semi Finals:
Randell Reid (W) 4.573 at 115 mph (.099 RT)
Gaylen Smith (RU) NT
Due to fact that we were unable to make the call, Randell thought he would take the opportunity to try something to see if the track would hold it but it didn't. About 1/2 track he had to shut it down and coast across the finish line into the finals.
Eric Clark (W) 4.368 at 156 mph (.032 RT)
Jim Brinkerhoff (RU) 5.399 at 111 mph (.064 RT)
Both cars on an off-paced run but it was Eric pulling it together enough to get the win light into the finals.
Final Round:
Randell Reid (W) 3.967 at 185 mph (.059 RT)
Eric Clark (RU) 9.070 at 52 mph (.039 RT)
Eric with the holeshot but he got out of shape immediately and watched Randell cruise by to take the win and by 2 thousandths, the low ET bounty/points. Randell also gets top MPH points. Congratulations to Batman and Reid Racing for their third consecutive win and to Eric Clark and the Clark Bros team for their runner up finish as well.
