  • TXR Results - July 11th -- Mrs. TBH, 12:12:44 07/13/15 Mon
One hot summer July evening, thirteen Outlaw Pro Mods invaded a little town called Kennedale and put on a show for the fans. There was lots of action and here’s how everything went down after two rounds of qualifying:

#1 Steve Wiley – 3.929 at 197 mph **Low ET and Top MPH**
    #2 Bob Alexander – 3.975 at 196 mph
    #3 Gaylen Smith – 4.076 at 185 mph
    #4 Eric Clark – 4.136 at 182 mph
    #5 Marcus Landeros – 4.225 at 136 mph
    #6 Charles Letteer – 4.288 at 178 mph
    #7 David Baldwin – 4.292 at 173 mph
#8 James Satterwhite – 4.347 at 170 mph **Best Reaction Time** (.014 RT)
    #9 Kevin Hargett – 4.357 at 176 mph
    #10 Chuck Poindexter – 4.763 at 156 mph
    #11 Dwayne Muensterman – 4.770 at 140 mph
    #12 Greg Green – 12.45 at 48 mph
    #13 Perry Dunn – NT

    First Round:

    Marcus Landeros (W) 4.023 at 161 mph (.032 RT)
Eric Clark (RU) 5.370 at 86 mph (.042 RT)

Marcus gets the starting line advantage and the upset win.

    Gaylen Smith (W) 10.178 at 39 mph (.219 RT)
Charles Letteer (RU) 4.912 at 139 mph (-.015 RT) Red Light

Charles leaves too soon and Gaylen lights the tires at the hit but gets the win. Whew!

    Bob Alexander (W) 4.027 at 194 mph (.060 RT)
David Baldwin (RU) 5.978 at 77 mph (.087 RT)

Bob makes another clean run for the win.

    Steve Wiley (W) 4.420 at 124 mph (.122 RT)
James Satterwhite (RU) 4.364 at 170 mph (-.136 RT)

James hit the tree a little too hard and red lit giving the automatic win to Wiley who was not on a great run.

    Semi-Finals:

    Marcus Landeros (W) 3.986 at 167 mph (.033 RT)
Steve Wiley (RU) 3.951 at 177 mph (.107 RT)

Marcus gets another upset win…on a holeshot and is going to the finals. He nails the tree and runs his first ever 3 second pass for the win over Wiley. Congrats on joining the 3 second club.

    Bob Alexander (W) 3.988 at 194 mph (.050 RT)
Gaylen Smith (RU) 8.205 at 52 mph (.063 RT)

The Texas Bounty Hunter, 57 Chevy was being very finicky, no matter what we tried, we couldn’t make a clean run. Bob on the other hand was tied to a string.

    Finals:

    Bob Alexander (W) 5.924 at 90 mph (.052 RT)
Marcus Landeros (RU) 13.405 at 22 mph (.019 RT)

Marcus gets away first and heads straight for the wall. Bob is in his lane peddling the car for the victory. It wasn’t pretty but a win is a win!

Congratulations to Bob Alexander and the entire StripTec team for the 2nd victory this season. Also, congratulations to Marcus Landeros and his entire crew for a runner-up finish and job well done. First 3 second run and I believe his first final round. Congrats again!

  • Beginning of the end for PDRA -- Sad but hopeful, 12:29:14 07/07/15 Tue
    DROnline, 7/6/15

Two of original PDRA owners are out

After just about 18 months of operation the eighth-mile PDRAhas seen two of it original investor/sponsors, Gene Hector and Roger Henson, depart the organization. Hector's departure was confirmed in an interview published last week in a prominent eZine and DRO sources say that investor Henson has also left.
Apparently, the remaining two investors Mitchell Scruggs and Tommy Franklin have confirmed that they will continue to support/fund the PDRA for the foreseeable future. According to DRO sources all of the PDRA races to date with pehaps two exceptions (Rockingham, NC, and Martin, MI) have been financially unsuccessful.
It is rumored but unconfirmed that Mr. Hector alone had invested approximately $600,000 in the first 18 months. Another source told Agent 1320 that in order to keep the series going in 2015 and beyond each of the partners was asked for an additional investment of $500,000.
Agent 1320 has also heard from several sources that at least one of the fabled "Traction Twins" track preppers has left the series for unknown reasons. [07/06/15]

  • TXR Results - June 13th -- Mrs. TBH, 17:32:50 06/17/15 Wed
After all the flooding we went through in the Metroplex, it seemed as long as a winter break since we had been on the track. Twenty Pro Mod teams came out of the woodwork ready to do battle. Just as we were getting ready to head to the lanes for first round qualifying, it started raining so we had a little rain delay. After the track crew dried the track with a little help from the hot steamy sun, we were ready to race! After two rounds of qualifying, here’s what went down:

#1 Perry Dunn - 4.057 at 183 mph **Low ET and Top MPH**
    #2 Steve Wiley – 4.058 at 182 mph
    #3 Gaylen Smith – 4.088 at 176 mph
    #4 Marcus Landeros – 4.101 at 166 mph
    #5 Bob Alexander – 4.130 at 175 mph
    #6 Jay Ligon – 4.173 at 171 mph
    #7 Eric Clark – 4.181 at 165 mph
    #8 Doug Riesterer – 4.241 at 173 mph
    #9 David Baldwin – 4.295 at 165 mph
    #10 Charles Letteer – 4.338 at 177 mph
    #11 Kevin Hargett – 4.360 at 174 mph
    #12 James Satterwhite – 4.372 at 163 mph
    #13 Greg Green – 4.393 at 165 mph
    #14 Rickey Cate – 4.402 at 161 mph
    #15 Eddie Roach – 4.407 at 162 mph
    #16 Dennis Hendrix – 4.749 at 128 mph
    #17 Chuck Poindexter – 4.942 at 144 mph
    #18 Darren Inman – 5.284 at 99 mph
    #19 Jeff Benham – 10.135 at 52 mph
#20 Harry Crane – NT (broke during warm-up)

    First Round:

    Doug Riesterer (W) 4.394 at 141 mph (.188 RT)
Perry Dunn (RU) 4.893 at 149 mph (.123 RT)

Doug pulls a major upset win over the #1 qualifier.

    David Baldwin (W) 6.449 at 81 mph (.054 RT)
Bob Alexander (RU) 45.180 at NO MPH (.946 RT)

Something happens to Alexander off the starting line and David Baldwin (who filled in for Marcus Landeros as an alternate) goes from not even being qualified to the semi-finals.

    Steve Wiley (W) 4.262 at 138 mph (.067 RT)
Eric Clark (RU) 4.974 at 98 mph (.014 RT)

Neither car was on a great lap but Wiley’s was good enough for the win.
    Gaylen Smith (W) 4.301 at 132 mph (.294 RT)
Jay Ligon (RU) 4.449 at 121 mph (.051 RT)

During 2nd round qualifying, something went wrong in Gaylen’s tranny and he could not back up so he drove it on through. After pulling the pan to see if there was a problem and not finding anything, they cooled it down and put it in the lanes for first round eliminations. We had planned on not doing a burnout across the starting line and hoping for the best leaving off the foot brake (hence the bad reaction time). Jay takes off when the amber’s drop and he is all kinds of out of shape and knocks a cone over. It was ruled by the track official that the parachute got the cone and he WAS NOT disqualified. Jay came by the trailer and told Gaylen that he did cross the center line and took himself out which put us back in the competition. (We still didn’t know what was wrong with the tranny.)

    Semi finals:

    David Baldwin (W) 4.315 at 164 mph (.058 RT)
Doug Riesterer (RU) 5.173 at 90 mph (.118 RT)

Baldwin gets another upset win and is heading to the finals.

    Steve Wiley (W) 4.074 at 181 mph (.067 RT)
Gaylen Smith (RU) 5.611 at 93 mph (.014 RT) **Best reaction time**

Gaylen gets away first but shortly after takeoff, the Bounty Hunter was juking and jiving and up next to the guard wall. All Gaylen could do was watch the Texas Grim Reaper power by for the win.

    Finals:

    Steve Wiley (W) 4.075 at 179 mph (.091 RT)
David Baldwin (RU) 4.314 at 163 mph (.032 RT)

Baldwin’s luck runs out here. He gets away first but couldn’t hold off the hard charging Reaper in the other lane.

Congratulations to Steve Wiley and the entire TGR team for their 2nd TOPMA victory and congrats to David Baldwin for the runner-up finish as well. You earned that one!

  • Super Chevy Results - May 16th -- Mrs. TBH, 17:16:59 05/20/15 Wed
With the threat of an early evening storm blowing in, 14 Pro Mod teams showed up at the annual Super Chevy Show at the Texas Motorplex in Ennis for the next stop on the Texas Outlaw Pro Mod Association’s 2015 tour to try and beat the storm. A “storm” was brewing on the track and here’s what went down:

    #1 Gaylen Smith – 3.971 at 187 mph
    #2 Steve Wiley – 4.018 at 185 mph
    #3 Chad Sheffield – 4.023 at 186 mph
    #4 Bob Alexander – 4.044 at 186 mph
    #5 Perry Dunn – 4.071 at 171 mph
    #6 Jay Ligon – 4.160 at 174 mph
    #7 Marcus Landeros – 4.223 at 170 mph
    #8 Charles Letteer – 4.313 at 179 mph
    #9 Rick Cate – 4.403 at 167 mph
    #10 Greg Green – 4.436 at 162 mph
    #11 David Baldwin – 4.444 at 159 mph
    #12 James Satterwhite – 4.528 at 161 mph
    #13 Kevin Hargett – 4.571 at 152 mph
    #14 Chuck Poindexter – 4.907 at 143 mph

    First Round:

    Bob Alexander (W) 4.065 at 185 mph (.029 RT)
    Perry Dunn (RU) NT

Perry did a burnout but was backed off the line for an oil leak. Bob cruised down the center of the lane on a competition bye for the win.

    Marcus Landeros (W) 4.248 at 169 mph (.011 RT)
Steve Wiley (RU) 4.315 at 130 mph (.040 RT)

Marcus gets the holeshot advantage but Wiley was making up ground until the blower belt flew off the car and all he could do was coast and watch Marcus take the win.

    Gaylen Smith (W) 3.965 at 189 mph (.149 RT)
Charles Letteer (RU) 5.063 at 104 mph (.007 RT)

Charles gets huge holeshot advantage but it was all over shortly after takeoff. Gaylen makes another consistent run for the win.

Jay Ligon (W) 4.172 at 173 mph (.002 RT) **Best Reaction Time**
Chad Sheffield (RU) 3.907 at 192 mph (-.266RT) **Low ET and Top MPH** Red Light

Chad throws away the round win by leaving the starting line too soon and Jay gets a huge upset win.

    Semi Finals:

    Jay Ligon (W) 4.184 at 167 mph (.031 RT)
Marcus Landeros (RU) 4.038 at 183 mph (-.003 RT) Red light

Marcus leaves too soon giving the automatic win to Ligon. Both cars made great passes.

    Gaylen Smith (W) 3.969 at 188 mph (.076 RT)
Bob Alexander (RU) 5.173 at 97 mph (-.332 RT) Red light

Not sure if Bob lifted because he saw his red light or if he encountered traction problems. I was watching Gaylen cruise down his lane for the win.

    Finals:

    Gaylen Smith (W) 3.974 at 189 mph (.342 RT)
    Jay Ligon (RU) NT

Jay fired up in the staging lanes but killed the car and Gaylen was told he would be running a solo. I later found out that Jay had a blown burst panel and shut it off. Gaylen makes another consistent run for his competition bye run for the win.

Congratulations to Gaylen Smith and Team TBH for their 2nd victory on the 2015 chase for the championship tour. Congrats also go out to Jay Ligon and crew for their runner up finish as well. By the semi-finals, the clouds had parted and there were blue skies all around proving Mother Nature is truly a drag racing fan.

  • TXR Results - May 8, 2015 -- Mrs. TBH, 19:24:24 05/11/15 Mon
With threatening rain all around the DFW metroplex, it was questionable on whether we would get to race at Texas Raceway or not Friday night. Twelve Pro Mod teams showed up to chance Mother Nature and I guess our rain dance worked because the rain held off all night. After two rounds of qualifying, here’s how everything unfolded:

#1 Gaylen Smith – 3.870 at 188 mph (Low ET & Top MPH)
    #2 Steve Wiley – 3.950 at 185 mph
    #3 Perry Dunn – 4.168 at 183 mph
    #4 Bob Alexander – 4.299 at 158 mph
    #5 Marcus Landeros – 4.304 at 135 mph
    #6 Charles Letteer – 4.307 at 169 mph
    #7 Eddie Roach – 4.380 at 164 mph
#8 Jeff Benham (Swyden Racing) – 4.459 at 162 mph
    #9 Greg Green – 4.539 at 159 mph
    #10 Kevin Hargett – 4.675 at 147 mph
    #11 Chuck Poindexter – 4.946 at 139 mph (Best reaction time .014)
#12 James Satterwhite – NT broke tranny at the hit during Q1 and couldn’t get it fixed in time.

    First round:

    Steve Wiley (W) 3.923 at 185 mph (.099 RT)
Eddie Roach (RU) 7.189 at 62 mph (.110 RT)

Wiley leaves first and gets the win light. Eddie having problems wisely shut it off.

    Kevin Hargett (W) 4.654 at 146 mph (.036 RT)
Charles Letteer (RU) 4.631 at 127 mph (.136 RT)

Not sure what Perry broke but Hargett filled in for him and got the holeshot upset win.

    Bob Alexander (W) 4.246 at 175 mph (.073 RT)
Marcus Landeros (RU) 4.445 at 128 mph (.018 RT)

Marcus gets away first but Bob charges by for the win.

    Gaylen Smith (W) 3.954 at 187 mph (.204 RT)
Jeff Benham (RU) 4.393 at 164 mph (.030 RT)

Gaylen gives Benham "the move" and runs him down.

    Semi Finals:

    Steve Wiley (W) 3.925 at 185 mph (.104 RT)
Kevin Hargett (RU) 5.184 at 105 mph (.063 RT)

Wiley on another clean consistent run and gets the win light.

    Gaylen Smith (W) 3.928 at 188 mph (.098 RT)
Bob Alexander (RU) 4.121 at 179 mph (-.013 RT)

Bob makes his best run of the night but he gave it away at the starting line. It wouldn’t have mattered because he would have had to run a 4.026 to beat Gaylen.

    Finals:

    Steve Wiley (W) 3.922 at 185 mph (.018 RT)
Gaylen Smith (RU) 3.919 at 188 mph (.051 RT)

After a pretty bad oil down right in front of this pair, Gaylen runs a 3.91 down the freshly cleaned lane but Wiley got away first and crossed the stripe first. Gaylen got a little loose in the middle but wasn’t going to give up.

Congratulations to Steve Wiley and the TGR team for their victory and congrats to Gaylen Smith and Team TBH for their runner-up finish as well. Thanks to the staff at Texas Raceway for giving us a great race track to run on.

See y’all next Saturday, May 16, in Ennis where our Outlaw’s will invade the Texas Motorplex for a little Super Chevy action.

So no one has stepped in yet to say anything so I will. I truly appreciate Tulsa Raceway Park stepping up and booking us in for some TOPMA events. Their track is stellar and that's indisputable. A few things were bullshit though. Pulling into the gate early Saturday morning started it off, the person at the gate insisted we pay TOPMA membership ($100) and entry fee ($100), we show them the current TOPMA membership card and tell her that we know nothing about entry fee, reluctantly she lets us in. It's 9:30 am Saturday morning for our race that is scheduled to begin at 3pm ZERO parking for our rig. So you invite ProMods knowing they usually travel in a larger rig but allow 100+ motorcycles and bracket racers to use up all the available decent pit spots?? Then to clarify the entry fee situation, the track owner holds a meeting between qualifying rounds saying that there definitely is an entry fee even though none of the promotional flyers etc on Facebook, track website, or message boards mentioned it. It's not the $100 I'm bitching about it's the not communicating that prior. Nothing like a 325 mile haul to a race then have to pit in some random spot and then pay extra money to race. Did I say the racing surface rocked, because it was awesome? The end.... got it off my chest.

After threatening weather forced us to move the race up to Friday, 12 pro mod teams showed up on April 10th to do battle, Outlaw style. After two rounds of qualifying, here’s how everything unfolded:

#1 Gaylen Smith – 3.865 at 189 mph (low ET and top MPH)
    #2 Steve Wiley – 4.016 at 184 mph
    #3 Bob Alexander – 4.083 at 178 mph
    #4 Doug Riesterer – 4.210 at 167 mph
    #5 Jay Ligon – 4.425 at 132 mph (Best reaction time .002)
    #6 Greg Green – 4.463 at 159 mph
    #7 Steve Harvey – 4.565 at 155 mph
    #8 Kevin Hargett – 4.629 at 149 mph
    #9 Charles Letteer – 4.853 at 115 mph
    #10 James Satterwhite – 5.215 at 99 mph
    #11 Perry Dunn – 5.724 at 82 mph
    #12 David Baldwin – 7.501 at 58 mph

    First round:

    Doug Riesterer (W) 4.574 at 138 mph (.088 RT)
Jay Ligon (RU) 6.127 at 74 mph (.028 RT)

Doug looked like he was at a drifting race instead of a drag race but he holds on for the win.

    Steve Wiley (W) 4.067 at 184 mph (.096 RT)
Steve Harvey (RU) 4.495 at 156 mph (.045 RT)

Harvey was away first but it wasn’t enough to overcome the Texas Grim Reaper.

    Bob Alexander (W) 4.078 at 179 mph (.102 RT)
Greg Green (RU) 6.586 at 74 mph (.032 RT)

Greg had the major starting line advantage but had to lift and Bob cruised by for the win.

    Gaylen Smith (W) 3.919 at 187 mph (.152 RT)
Kevin Hargett (RU) 4.673 at 147 mph (.157 RT)

Kevin was sporting a new car/motor combination and is still working the bugs out. Gaylen made a great run for the win.

    Semi Finals:

    Bob Alexander (W) 4.053 at 178 mph (.019 RT)
Steve Wiley (RU) 4.072 at 184 mph (.020 RT)

This was a dead even race. Bob barely gets the win!

    Gaylen Smith (W) 3.913 at 189 mph (.140 RT)
Doug Riesterer (RU) 3.951 at 183 mph (.110 RT)

Doug finally hooks up and makes a nice lap but fell short of the win light. Gaylen makes another consistent run.

Both pairs in the semi finals was worth the price of admission. Very close racing!

    Finals:

    Gaylen Smith (W) 4.050 at 153 mph (.088 RT)
Bob Alexander (RU) 4.045 at 179 mph (-.006 RT) Red light

Bob goes red and Gaylen gets the automatic win on and off the throttle.

Congratulations to Gaylen Smith and Team TBH for their first victory of the 2015 season. The Bounty Hunter was pretty consistent all night. Congrats to Bob Alexander and Team Striptec as well for their runner-up finish. Bob maintains the points lead by the very narrowest of margins but Gaylen is hot on his heels.

Both cars left together but it was Hargett making it to the finish line under power.

    Bob Alexander (W) 4.144 at 172 mph (.068 RT)
Charles Letteer (RU) 5.112 at 100 mph (.113 RT)

Congratulations to Bob Alexander and crew for their win! Also congrats to Kevin Hargett and crew for their runner-up finish!!

Leave the announcing to the tower who has true info on the cars. "Here we go" and "you know what time it is" shows just how ignorant he really is....

Congratulations to Gaylen Smith and the entire TBH crew for an outstanding year! It didn't look like we were going to catch Wiley in the Texas Grim Reaper but at the last race of the season, the stars all lined up properly and we squeaked by for the championship. Congratulations to Steve Wiley and the entire Texas Grim Reaper crew for a stellar year, finishing #2. They came out with a vengeance and led the points the whole season until the final race. Congrats to the other teams, especially the top 8. We appreciate each and every racer who supports this organization, all the fans that come out in the heat and cold temps to watch us do what we love to do and to the race tracks who support us. I can't wait for 2015.

I would also like to say THANK YOU to everyone who sent prayers & condolences to Gaylen and our family and to those who sent flowers to the funeral home in our time of sorrow when Gaylen's dad passed away suddenly. The whole family was touched and over joyed with the number of people who came to remember Charles Ray! Thank you again from the bottom of our hearts!

  • Domino Motorsports -- Chris Domino, 08:38:18 11/26/14 Wed
Domino Motorsports will attempt to run a full schedule with TOPMA next season , it's time my team steps up and races with the Big Boys in Texas . We raced with the beginner Pro Mod class TAO for 3 seasons and have out grown that class and time to step up . The reason i said attempt to run TOPMA leads to my QUESTION . Is there any way possible you guys could move your races to Saturday's my team and myself work on fridays and we live In Beaumont/Houston area , so our drive time is around 5 hours . It will be possible for my team to maybe make one or two Friday night events but we couldnt run enough to be able to run for the points championship . It's high time somebody comes in there and gives Gaylon and Wiley an run for there money and I think I'm the man that can do just that . Wiley get them $20 bills ready !!!!!!!
