  • Can someone explain to me why Texas Raceway staff would spray Vht just before the final promods come up and not drag it. Yes Vht is a sticky compound but wet is wet. Grant goes up to make a test pass amd as soon as he left it look like he left in water. The Gaylen and Jerry come up and same thing happens to Jerry. The only reason it didnt happen to Gaylen was they broke a blower belt. -- Whoever made that decision needs to be fired, 01:44:45 06/11/11 Sat

  • North Star Dragway Results - 6/4/11 -- Mrs. TBH, 09:59:44 06/06/11 Mon
Well, it was a very warm sunny day on Saturday and turned out to be a great race day. After two rounds of qualifying, here's what went down. We had some unfinished business from the first Kennedale race of the season and Randell Reid and Eddie Roach were both in the finals but had to call the race due to curfew. We were just now able to get both cars at the same race again and they ran the final round during first round qualifying at Denton and it was Eddie Roach coming away with the win. Randell tried to run him down but was all over the track and Eddie was gone and never looked back. Congrats to Eddie Roach and the Red Oak Gang for your victory and to Randell Reid and crew for the runner-up finish. Now back to present day.....

    #1 Randell Reid - 4.209 at 165 mph **Best Reaction Time .003)
    #2 Gaylen Smith - 4.218 at 167 mph
    #3 Jackie Deaver - 4.246 at 148 mph
    #4 Doug Riesterer - 4.322 at 165 mph
    #5 Michelle Wildon - 4.357 at 168 mph
    #6 David Baldwin - 4.383 at 163 mph
    #7 Randy Rencher - 4.500 at 159 mph
    #8 Bill Doucet - 4.651 at 127 mph
    #9 Eddie Roach - 4.660 at 152 mph
    #10 Jerry Hunt - 4.761 at 114 mph
    #11 Marty Neely - 4.854 at 112 mph
    #12 Jim Jolly - 5.012 at 139 mph
    #13 Steve Gorman - 5.125 at 144 mph
    #14 Tim Cruce - 5.353 at 101 mph
    #15 Bebo Chandler - 5.425 at 96 mph
    #16 Larry Jeffers - 7.244 at 69 mph

    First Round:

    Doug Riesterer (W) 4.321 at 166 mph (.065 RT)
Michelle Wilson (RU) 4.481 at 159 mph (.097 RT)

Jackie Deaver (W) 4.048 at 185 mph (.097 RT) **Low ET and Top MPH
David Baldwin (RU) 5.103 at 102 mph (.028 RT)

    Gaylen Smith (W) 4.236 at 159 mph (.140 RT)
Randy Rencher (RU) 4.510 at 154 mph (.040 RT)

Bill Doucet (W) 4.238 at 160 mph (.044 RT) Hole shot win
Randell Reid (RU) 4.235 at 164 mph (.057 RT)

    Semi Finals:

    Jackie Deaver (W) 4.225 at 146 mph (.159 RT)
Gaylen Smith (RU) 4.548 at 117 mph (.071 RT)

Gaylen left first but started shaking the tires and moved over to the center line so he lifted. Jackie was on a straighter run and takes the win.

    Doug Riesterer (W) 4.161 at 175 mph (.057 RT)
Bill Doucet (RU) 4.887 at 103 mph (.068 RT)

I didn't see this race but it was Doug's best run of the night.

    Finals:

    Jackie Deaver (W) 4.232 at 143 mph (.029 RT)
Doug Riesterer (RU) 5.017 at 95 mph (.074 RT)

Jackie got the starting line advantage and never looked back. Doug was trying to catch him and started moving around all over his lane so he lifted.

Congratulations to Jackie Deaver and the the Underdawg's Revenge crew for their first victory of the season. Since switching to a blown combination Jackie has really stepped up his game. He ran a 3.99 last week during testing so look out now.....

Congratulations to Doug Riesterer and crew for your runner-up finish as well. Thanks to Larry Croft and the staff of North Star Dragway. We'll see y'all next year.

    #14 Tim Cruce - 5.036 at 109 mph
    #15 Chuck Poindexter - 11.807 at 46 mph
    #16 Jackie Deaver - NT

    First Round:

    Mel Jackson (W) 4.629 at 119 mph (.285 RT)
Steve Gorman (RU) 4.759 at 119 mph (.156 RT)

Mel filled in for Gene Hector who was unable to make the call after his chutes didn't deploy causing him to run into the water barrels and hay bails at the end of the track. Steve Gorman filled in for Marty Neely who wasn't able to make first round. Both alternates were napping at the line but it was Mel "SHONUFF" Jackson taking the win.

    Doug Riesterer (W) 4.300 at 135 mph (.071 RT)
Eddie Roach (RU) 4.539 at 153 mph (.027 RT) Best Reaction Time points

Doug takes the victory on an off-paced pass while Eddie filled in for Michelle who was the third car unable to make first round. (Didn't I tell you the night was weird?)

    Randell Reid (W) 4.045 at 170 mph (.051 RT)
Clint Satterfield (RU) 4.750 at 133 mph (.077 RT)

    David Baldwin (W) 4.344 at 161 mph (.077 RT)
Gaylen Smith (RU) NT (.056 RT)

Gaylen reacted first but didn't get off the line as the blower belt broke at the hit of the throttle. Baldwin was on another consistent run taking the win light.

    Semi-Finals:

    Doug Riesterer (W) 4.502 at 166 mph (.038 RT)
Randell Reid (RU) 4.552 at 159 mph (.034 RT)

Reid with the slight starting line advantage but it was Doug who came out on top.

    David Baldwin (W) 4.398 at 159 mph (.071 RT)
Mel Jackson (RU) 4.546 at 154 mph (.107 RT)

David on another consistent run taking the win away from Mel.

    Finals:

    Doug Riesterer (W) 4.218 at 164 mph (.099 RT)
David Baldwin (RU) 4.393 at 160 mph (.086 RT)

Baldwin was going for the hole shot win but Doug denies him taking the win. Congratulations to Doug Riesterer and crew for their victory and also for their victory the following night in Tulsa at the Throw Down in T-Town.

Congratulations to David Baldwin and crew for their runner-up finish as well.

  • Dallas Raceway Results - 4.23.11 -- Mrs. TBH, 10:35:03 04/25/11 Mon
Well Mother Nature didn't know if she was a drag racing fan Saturday night or not. The night started out great, not too hot and not that windy BUT later on in the race, we were on rain delay several times for a light mist/sprinkle and then the wind picked up after the last spinkle. After two rounds of qualifying, here's what went down......

#1 Gaylen Smith - 3.933 at 193 mph **Top MPH points**
    #2 Mark Daly - 4.018 at 175 mph
    #3 Bill Doucet - 4.081 at 191 mph
    #4 Michelle Wilson - 4.247 at 171 mph
    #5 Jackie Deaver - 4.355 at 130 mph
    #6 Tim Cruce - 4.364 at 165 mph
    #7 Chuck Nuytten - 4.499 at 145 mph
    #8 Mel "Sho-Nuff" Jackson - 4.521 at 158 mph
    #9 Chuck Poindexter - 4.652 at 150 mph
    #10 Jerry Hunt - 4.681 at 124 mph
    #11 Marty Neely - 4.700 at 149 mph
    #12 Car# 324 (No Name) - 5.020 at 149 mph
    #13 Joseph Butler - 5.585 at 125 mph
    #14 Car # 4270 (No Name) - 5.727 at 85 mph
    #15 Clint Satterfield - 6.947 at 88 mph

    First round:

    Michelle Wilson (W) 4.892 at 106 mph (.072 RT)
Jackie Deaver (RU) 4.191 at 163 mph (-.044 RT) Red Light

I'm not sure if Michelle saw Jackie's red light and lifted or if she had traction problems. I was in the staging lanes and didn't get to watch the race.

    Bill Doucet (W) 4.071 at 157 mph (.045 RT)
Tim Cruce (RU) 4.620 at 158 mph (.003 RT) **Best Reaction Time**

Tim got out of the gate first but has been fighting electrical problems and has not been able to get the performance out of the car that he wants. Bill was on another nice consistent run and takes the win.

    Mark Daly (W) 4.016 at 173 mph (.085 RT)
Chuck Poindexter (RU) 4.652 at 151 mph (-.028 RT) Red Light

After smacking the wall in the Beretta earlier this year, Chuck Poindexter brings the "Luvamaro" back out. He failed to make the show but filled in for Chuck Nuytten who qualified but unfortunately hit the wall and caught fire in first round qualifying. Chuck was okay but the car was not. Thank goodness you're okay Chuck. Mark is driving John Heath's car out of Missouri and made another great run.

Gaylen Smith (W) 3.924 at 193 mph (.165 RT) **Low ET points**
Mel "Sho-Nuff" Jackson (RU) 5.042 at 108 mph (.038 RT)

Mel was going for the win with the holeshot advantage but he was unable to keep up with the hard charging Hemi in the other lane driven by Gaylen Smith.

    Finals:

    Gaylen Smith (W) 3.993 at 190 mph (.016 RT)
Mark Daly (RU) 4.165 at 156 mph (.062 RT)

Due to the windy weather conditions Michelle chose to forfeit her semi-final round to Gaylen and Bill Doucet was unable to make his round against Mark because of breakage so we went straight into the finals. Gaylen left first and never looked back. If he had looked back, he would have seen Mark Daly sideways crossing into his lane and ending up backwards up against the retaining wall. Again, thank goodness that Mark was okay.

Congratulations to Gaylen Smith and the Texas Bounty Hunter Crew for their 3rd victory in a row and congrats to Mark Daly/John Heath for their runner-up finish as well.

Thanks to Sandy and Sammy and all the Dallas Raceway staff for a great track surface and coping with Mother Nature!

5:08 p.m. Tutterow loses traction at the hit, makes a move to the right, and he has to back off the throttle. Smith got a little further, pedaled a couple of times, then went on for the win.

Stanton goes for a wild ride on this one. He gets about 300 feet out, gets out of the groove and makes a move to right. He crosses the centerline, takes out the timing blocks as the rear of the car moves around wildly. He pulls the chutes trying to settle the car down and finally gets it under control. Smith makes a clean pass unaware of what is going on behind him.

In the next round it will be Martin with lane choice over Smith, Von Smith vs. Stanley, Hossler vs. Hamstra, and Snyder vs. Taylor.

    Gaylen Smith (W) 4.329 at 161 mph (.170 RT)
Clayton Pool (RU) 4.356 at 143 mph (1.313 RT)

Gaylen was a little late leaving the line but Clayton was dead late. Gaylen moved around a little but takes the win light.

    Mel Jackson (W) 5.028 (.776 RT)
    Randell Reid (RU) No Time

After Randell did his burnout, the car wouldn't go into reverse and then the motor started mixing cylinders up creating flames out the headers which in turn caught the side of his car on fire. Sorry to hear about that but I know y'all will be back out in no time. Mel "SHONUFF" Jackson advances to the semi finals.

    Semi Finals:

Mel "SHONUFF" Jackson aka peanut (W) 4.679 at 146 mph (.052 RT)
Jackie Deaver (RU) No Time (.141 RT)

Jackie breaks a blower belt at the hit of the throttle. Peanut leaves the line first and never looks back....he's SHONUFF in the finals!!!

    Gaylen Smith (W) 4.114 at 149 mph (.141 RT)
Doug Riesterer (RU) 4.269 at 171 mph (.025 RT)

Doug was going for the win out of the gate first but both cars encountered traction problems and it was Gaylen peddling to the stripe first.

    Finals:

    Gaylen Smith (W) 4.072 at 182 mph (.203 RT)
Mel "SHONUFF" Jackson aka Peanut (RU) 5.071 at 108 mph (.045 RT)

Gaylen said in the staging lanes that he was worried about running peanut cuz when it's your night, it's your night and peanut had pulled off some upset victories up to this point. He was going to make sure he didn't red light and Gaylen finds his way to the winner's circle again.

Congratulations to Gaylen and Team TBH for their victory and a BIG CONGRATS goes out to Mel "SHONUFF" Jackson aka Peanut for your runner-up finish as well.
